Surrounded by his family, Keith V. “Casey” Jones died peacefully on Thursday, Nov. 15, 2012. He was 83.

Casey was born Feb. 25, 1929 in Battle Creek, Mich. to Kenneth B. and Evanell Jones. After graduating from high school, he enlisted in the Army and served in the Korean War. He was forever a true life-long patriot who loved his flag and country.

He later moved from Battle Creek, Mich. to Midwest where he worked cowboying for his uncle Herman Werner. Later, he worked on the Buck Allmand Ranch where he was involved in one of the biggest cattle drives in the state of Wyoming. His passion and love for the mountains took him through a number of seasons with Don Gibbs Outfitting.

He met the love of his life, Sandie Krenning Jones, and they were married in Cody on Dec. 20, 1972. Casey was self-employed as a painter for a number of years. He later was a salesman at Kenny Inc. for Leo Kenny, and a truck driver for Mac Taggart at Pat O’Hara Company. Later, he became the owner of Rocky Mountain Liquors in Cody.

Casey enjoyed hunting, fishing and golf. He was an avid reader and history buff. He enjoyed playing cards and working word search puzzles.

In earlier years, he was involved with the Boy Scouts, Lions Club and Eagles. He was a lifetime member of the Cody Elks Lodge, VFW and the Masonic Lodge.

Casey touched the lives of many people and had a way of making them feel like they were special. He had a genuine love and appreciation for the people closest to him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Kenny and Don Jones and brother-in-law Ray Vandenberg.

Casey is survived by his wife Sandie Krenning Jones; daughter Tammie Jones; son Troy (Renee) Jones, all of Cody; grandchildren Drew Jones of Powell, Dakota and Michaela Jones of Cody; sister Bette Vandenberg of Grand Rapids, Mich.; stepbrother Bill Caldwell of Battle Creek, Mich.; nieces Sue Staup of Bryan, Ohio, Lori (Larry) Dykhouse, Leslie (Dave) Steffee all of Grand Rapids, Mich.; and numerous great-nieces and nephews.

Cremation has taken place and a celebration of Casey’s life will be held Friday, Nov. 30 at 10:30 a.m. at Ballard Funeral Home with a luncheon to follow at The Terrace on West Yellowstone Avenue, in Cody. Anyone who was touched by Casey’s life is welcome.
