Myrna Jensen, 78, of Byron, died Sunday, Oct. 14, 2012.

Myrna was born in Lovell on Jan. 10, 1934. She was the third child of Heber McArthur and Zilla Harris McArthur. She grew up in Lovell and married Richard Wirth Jensen from Byron in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple on July 10, 1953. With the exception of living a short time in Salt Lake City, Utah, Laramie and Ten Sleep, she lived her life in Byron.

Myrna took advantage of the opportunity for further education with her husband and then six children and returned to the University of Wyoming to attain her bachelor’s degree in Library Science. She then enjoyed being the librarian for Rocky Mountain High School.

Myrna was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served in many callings while raising her family and was noted for her contributions to music and teaching. She enjoyed playing the piano and accompanying others, classical music, history, genealogy, word games and puzzles, gardening and growing flowers. She cooked and canned for her large family and made excellent cinnamon rolls and bread. She will be missed for her kindly, accepting and gentle nature. She had many friends.

Myrna is survived by her husband of nearly 60 years, Richard W. Jensen; children Jan (Bart) Brinkerhoff, of Powell, Sue (Don) Decker of Pearland, Texas, Kaye (Arley) George of Cody, Heber (Eileen) Jensen of Burlington, Alma (Philip) Christiansen of St. Cloud, Minn., Renee Jensen of Byron and Richard Mac (Veronica) Jensen of Boden, Sweden. She is also survived by 32 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; numerous dear nieces and nephews; sister Belva Hanson; brother Newell (Connie) McArthur; and sister-in-law Arden (Blaine) McArthur Brailsford.

Myrna was preceded in death by her parents Heber and Zilla McArthur, brother Dean McArthur and grandson Aaron Brinkerhoff.

Services will be held Saturday, Oct. 20 at 10 a.m. at the Byron LDS Chapel. Burial will be in the Byron Cemetery.

Haskell Funeral Home in Lovell is in charge of arrangements.
