Cecil Cline died Saturday, Sept. 22, 2012, at Powell Valley Care Center, just 10 days shy of his 104th birthday.

Cecil was born Oct. 8, 1908 in Hume, Mo., to Jesse Cline and Bertha Epperson. He received his eighth grade education in Missouri, where he spent his younger years.

In 1932, Jesse and Bertha and their sons, Cecil, Bud and Bob, left the Depression and desolation of Missouri to come to the green fields and abundant crops of the Powell Valley. Cecil and his father and brothers worked various farms in the area.

On July 11, 1942, Cecil married Clara Zeller, a teacher at Powell High School. In December 1943, Cecil and Clara were blessed with their first set of twins. They then moved to a farm in Emblem, where they would live for the next 40-plus years. In July 1945, their second set of twins was born.

Clara passed away in August 1980. In 1983, Cecil moved to Powell, where he became an avid golfer and spent his retirement years.

Cecil is survived by sons Charles (Carol) Cline of Worland and Clifford Cline of Cody; daughter Christine Allen of Powell; sister-in-law Lillian Cline of Powell; and many nieces, nephews and great nieces and great nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Clara; infant son, Kenneth Cecil; brothers Orville, Charles “Bud,” Bob; sister Velma Sivey; and son-in-law Forrest “Billy” Allen.

Funeral services were held Friday, Sept. 28 at Thompson Funeral Home in Powell. Burial followed in the Crown Hill Cemetery.
