Funeral services for Andy Vernon Dorn, 58, were held Friday, Aug. 24 at the The Gathering in Douglas, with Pastor Frank Wiederrecht officiating.

Andy Dorn died Aug. 20, 2012 in Douglas.

He was born March 19, 1954 in Billings, Mont., the son of Vernon E. and Edna Ellen (Hetland) Dorn.

He was raised and educated in Hanna and graduated from Hanna High School in 1972. He attended the University of Wyoming. He returned to Hanna and worked at the coal mine until they closed it in 1984. In 1984, he came to Douglas and began working for North Antelope Mine until the time of his death.

He was married to Anne E. Alvarez on May 9, 1987 in Douglas.

He enjoyed hunting, horseback riding and arrowhead hunting, and he was certified to scuba dive.

He is survived by his wife, Anne Dorn; children, Adam Dorn, Aaron Dorn and Danielle (Frank) Flipse, all of Douglas; brother, Harold Dorn of Elk Mountain; and grandchildren, Joseph Dorn of Los Banos, Calif., and Samara Eliana Flipse of Douglas.

Andy was preceded in death by his parents.

Serving as honorary pallbearers were Adam Dorn, Aaron Dorn, Frank Flipse, Sid Hetland, and Greg Passini.  

The Gorman Funeral Homes – Converse Chapel of Douglas was in charge of the arrangements.
