(Aug. 31, 1929 - Aug. 18, 2012)

James F. “Jim” Stewart passed away peacefully on Saturday, Aug. 18, 2012, at the age of 82. Jim was born Aug. 31, 1929 to Daisy Belle (Holliman) Stewart and James Wakeman Stewart in West Frankfort, Ill. Jim is resting peacefully with his mom and dad, sister Margaret and his brothers Chuck and Andy.

Jim moved to Powell in 1944 with his dad at the age of 15 where he attended Powell High School.

Jim met the love of his life, Joyce Marie Frey in Bozeman, Mont. They were married on Aug. 28, 1949. They would have celebrated their 63rd wedding anniversary this year. Out of this union, four children were born.

Jim drove oilfield transport trucks for L.L. Smith for many years before he started his own welding, hotshot, and trucking business in 1971. Together, Jim and Joyce grew this business out of their home on the Willwood. They operated the business for 15 years before they sold and Jim retired to pursue other interests. He built furniture out of old barn wood along with frames, shadow boxes and wishing wells. He always had a project he was working on. They both traveled with friends and family, but they never missed the Eagles picnic. He was a longtime member of the Powell Eagles Lodge.

Joyce was his first love but a close second was his love of fishing and hunting. Every weekend you could find him and friends out on Buffalo Bill Reservoir fishing and telling stories.

Jim is survived by his wife; daughters Charolette (Mike) Stewart-McCue of Cody, Sheila (Barry) Wilson of Covington, Wash., Sharon Ball of Cody, and son James (Jimmy) Stewart Jr; nine grandchildren Brandon and Ryan Selk, John McCue, Travis and Chad Ball, Nikole Clark, Heather Johnson, Shawn Wilson, Steuart Telford; 12 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Memorial services will be held Friday, Aug. 24 at 10 a.m. at Thompson Funeral Home. Interment to follow at Crown Hill Cemetery. Memorial donations can be made to the charity of your choice.

Thompson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements and condolences may be sent to the family at www.thompsonfuneral.net or P.O. Box 807, Powell, WY 82435.
