Boys 11th at Class 3A competition in sheridan; coach says athletes improved all season

The Powell High School girls cross country team claimed fourth place in the Class 3A State Championships in Sheridan Saturday. The Powell boys finished 11th.

Hillman, 72, has missed a few days of work and was not at the Oct. 6 Powell City Council meeting. But Hillman said he aims to regain his health and continue to serve as mayor.

Dan Coolidge, a Campbell County commissioner and third-generation oil and gas producer, told The Associated Press that term is being heard more and more, welcome news after more than 20 years of dropping oil production.

The Powell High School girls claimed third and the boys took fifth in the Powell Invitational cross country meet Thursday.

Head coach Cliff Boos said the only home meet of the year, held at the Powell Golf Club, went very well. It was run in near-perfect conditions, pleasant enough for the scores of fans who lined the course while still cool enough for the runners.
