The Northwest Trappers women’s basketball team ended a five-game losing streak and got back to .500 with a pair of wins in Powell over the weekend.

The Northwest College men’s basketball team won two of three against the Utah All-Stars over the weekend and have now won five of the past six contests.

The Northwest College volleyball team, which was never ranked during the regular season, took eighth-place at the NJCAA National Championship Tournament in Casper over the weekend.

NWC team will face former coach in first round in Casper

Northwest’s women’s basketball team will look to rebound after failing to do so in three losses at the College of Southern Idaho tournament over the weekend.

The Northwest College men’s basketball team won three straight games since Nov. 13, including the first two of a nine-game homestand.


Panthers go back-to-back-to-back as state champions


When a team wins a state title, it’s only natural that those who were seen holding the ball and scoring touchdowns will be the ones that garner the most attention.

On Friday afternoon, Powell High School senior Zach Thompson stood amongst his Powell Panther teammates as they celebrated their third consecutive state football title.

At times it looked grim, painful even, but when all was said and done, it looked very familiar.

The Powell Panthers won their third-straight Class 3A football title Friday night by beating the Douglas Bearcats 19-13 in overtime. After the game players, coaches, fans and parents joined on the field to exchange hugs and take photos as a confetti-like snow fell on their heads.
