The Northwest College wrestling team returns to action this week with a new mindset for the second half of the season.

Those who left town for the holidays couldn’t hear it, but the Northwest Trappers men’s basketball team let out a huge sigh of relief over the winter break.

The Northwest Trappers women’s basketball team will look to win its 10th game in a row and remain perfect in Powell when it hosts the Casper Thunderbirds at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday.

The first weekend of the NFL playoffs, “Wild Card Weekend” as it’s known, has the most to offer of foot- ball’s postseason. The most games, the most potential for upsets, the most bitter Cowboy fans watching out of spite.

A dozen fan bases still have a dog in the fight and everyone is talking themselves into why this is their year. But a third of the playoff field will be eliminated in the next two days, and here’s how I think it will play out.

7th graders go undefeated

The Powell Middle School seventh-grade boys’ basketball team beat Cody 52-41 in the conference championship to finish the season a perfect 13-0.

The Powell Middle School swim team won four events and was the runner-up at the 2013 Conference Championship meet in Powell Dec. 10.

PHS takes down two billings teams for title

The Powell High School wrestling team laid out the competition on its way to a first-place finish at the 2013 Battle in the Big Horns tournament in Worland over the weekend.

The Northwest College wrestling team swept through a three-dual weekend in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, highlighted by Friday’s 24-19 win over the No. 1 North Idaho Cardinals.

Snyder records two double-doubles

The Northwest College women’s basketball team won its final two games of 2013 and entered the winter break on a nine-game winning streak.

Thompson takes first PHS title

Zach Thompson claimed the 195-pound championship and the Powell High School wrestling team finished seventh at the Rapid City Invitational over the weekend.
