Powell High School’s track teams took their final tune-up opportunity before this week’s make-or-break 3A West regional meet by competing at Cody on Friday. The Panther boys placed first while the girls were second at the Trackstravaganza.

The Powell girls’ soccer team survived 40 minutes of nearly non-strop pressure unscathed in the first half, then took advantage of a howling north wind to complete a regular-season sweep of Worland with a 2-0 victory on Monday. The win came on Senior Night for the Panthers.

The Powell Panther soccer teams took out their frustrations on Pinedale on Saturday with the girls posting a 4-3 victory over the Wranglers while the boys picked up their third win of the season, posting a 2-0 win. The victories came less than 24 hours after both Powell teams were shut out by Lander.

The Powell High School tennis teams hosted Cody last Tuesday, dropping a 4-1 decision to the Fillies on the girls’ side and being swept 5-0 on the boys’ side. The meet was the first varsity action for many of those in the Panthers’ lineup.

PHS entry heavy on field events at track classic
The Powell High School track team earned 17 event slots for Friday’s running of the Wyoming Track Classic. The annual elite competition provides a showcase for the state’s top competitors in each non-relay event to go head-to-head against one another at Casper’s Kelly Walsh High School.
Slimmed down Panthers strong in Lovell meet
Boys second, girls third overall
The Powell Panthers placed second on the boys’ side and third on the girls’ side at the Lovell Invitational on Saturday. The Panthers competed in the meet absent a number of their members, who were in action at Sheridan.
