College likely to see enrollment increases, revenue decreases, in next few years

Enrollment at Northwest College is up slightly for the 2015-16 school year compared to last fall’s numbers. 

Effective Sept. 30, Powell Valley Healthcare will no longer provide home care and hospice services to the community.

A Powell couple had a unique opportunity to watch their son land in a Chinook helicopter at Choice Aviation in Cody on Thursday as part of his flight-engineer duties with the U.S. Army.

Thursday was Christmas in July for Harold Wages, area coordinator for Toys for Tots. That was when Carol Atwood donated more than 500 Beanie Babies from her personal collection to Toys for Tots.

Despite “a few bumps in the road,” the 2015 Park County Fair went pretty well, said Teecee Barrett, a member of the Park County Fair Board. “I think we had a pretty good fair.”

It’s the last full week in July, and here in Powell, that means one thing: the Park County Fair.

During the fair, we celebrate decades-long traditions and relive some of our favorite memories.

Imagine my horror years ago when, while reading a story I had written up the day before, I saw the word Vermin instead of the name Vernon, which I had intended to write. 

A program that combined state matching money and private donations helped the Powell Medical Foundation build an endowment account totaling more than $700,000.

Nervously, Rosemary Reno looked around the room. Yes, everything was ready: Table set for company, memory books on the table, a bouquet of flowers on the counter.
