Mary Nielsen of Cody died peacefully at Spirit Mountain Hospice House on Sunday, Nov. 25, 2012. She was 94.

Stephen Edward Cole was born in the “old hospital” in Powell on April 18, 1947. His mother grew up in Powell and returned there to birth her first son because there was no hospital in Riverton. Steve and his wife, Maurine Hinckley-Cole, retired to Powell in May 2012. He died of heart failure in the “new” Powell hospital on Nov. 25, 2012, with his wife and son by his side. He was 65.

Events downtown Saturday, holiday home tour Sunday

Cue up the Christmas music, get ready for holiday treats and check your shopping lists: It’s time for Country Christmas in downtown Powell.

The annual celebration kicks off at 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 1 with the Christmas Gift Expo at The Commons. The expo will stay open through 7 p.m. and features 33 vendors.

Robert Calvin Croft, 94, died Nov. 22, 2012 at the hospital in Kemmerer.

Bob was born in Powell on June 19, 1918 to William Connel Croft and Jane LaBelle Sinclair. He was the oldest of two boys. His brother Dick was born in 1923.

Shirley June (Baker) Tack died Saturday, Nov. 24, 2012. She was 93.

Shirley was born June 6, 1919, the daughter of Leroy and Nell Baker.

William “Bill” James Hecht died Sunday, Nov. 25, 2012 at Powell Valley Hospital from complications following a stroke. He was 90.

William R. “Bill” Lacy, 88, of Cody, died on Saturday, Nov. 24, 2012 at West Park Hospital. He was surrounded by his wife Lurlyn, son Bob, daughter-in-law Nancy, his grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchild and nephew.

Wilda Alice Hoefer died peacefully on Sunday, Nov. 18, 2012. She was 91.

Wilda was born Feb. 24, 1921 in Cheyenne to Maurice and Jessie (Martin) McLaughlin. She spent most of her childhood in Grass Creek. After graduating from Cody High School in 1939, she spent time working at a blueprint company, making the prints for the Heart Mountain Relocation Camp. She also welded nose cones for planes during WWII.

Scott Meeks Welch, of Lovell, died on Friday, Nov. 16, 2012, leaving behind his beloved family, friends and community. He was 87.

Scott was born Jan. 25, 1925, in Cowley. His loving, caring parents were Charles Golden and Ora Meeks Welch. Scott married Kathleen Peterson on Sept. 4, 1945, in the Salt Lake Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Cody Neal Yates, 24, died Sunday, Nov. 18, 2012 in a car accident in Clark.

Cody was born on Feb. 3, 1988 in Albuquerque, N.M., to Neal and Kay Yates. He was a wonderful son, grandson, nephew, cousin and friend to a family extending far beyond those who share a common name with him to include every person that he came to know in his life. He loved living in the country and cowboying more than anything.
