Margaret Baird, 84, of Lovell died from injuries sustained in a wreck that occurred in front of Shopko on Coulter Avenue at about 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, according to the Powell Police Department. Her husband, 89-year-old Robert Baird, was riding in the passenger seat and remained in critical condition at St. Vincent Healthcare in Billings as of Wednesday.
Many of you may not realize this, and you may find it hard to believe, but six years ago I was gearing up to be a high school teacher. It turns out that after holding parent-teacher conferences, I’d rather deal with bucking broncs and ornery grizzlies than duke it out with badgering or apathetic parents. (The kids were fine; their parents were another story entirely.)
We were disappointed to report that not very many people showed up to the polls for the primary election on Aug. 16. Casting our votes during the primaries is just as important as deciding who the winner is on Election Day, and we’d like to see Park County residents be more active in local politics.
People lie a lot, but some are better at it than others.
I was going to write about the abysmal voter turnout in the 2012 primaries and urge everyone to go vote today but there’s not much more to say.
Although most of us aren’t farmers, we’re all directly linked to agriculture because everyone eats.
