County looking for volunteers to serve on boards

If you have an interest in Park County's libraries and museums, now would be a good time to speak up.

Through 3 p.m. Friday, county commissioners are seeking three volunteers to serve on the Park County Library Board and the Park County Museum Board.

Two spots are available on the library board, which helps oversee the county's libraries in Powell, Cody and Meeteetse. One spot is for a Powell-area representative and the other is set aside for someone from the Cody area.

One seat, meanwhile, is coming open on the Park County Museum Board, which oversees the Homesteader Museum in Powell and the Park County Archives in Cody.

All of the positions on the three boards are unpaid, three-year terms. Part of the work involves helping to draft budget recommendations for those entities, with the recommendations then being forwarded to the Park County Commission for consideration.

Applications may be requested electronically by emailing Nicholle Gerharter at ngerharter@parkcounty.us. Hard copies are available at the Park County Annex in Powell (109 W. 14th St.) or at the county commissioners’ office in the Park County Courthouse in (1002 Sheridan Ave. in Cody). In addition to an application, candidates must also submit a letter of interest or résumé. Commissioners will hold interviews on Tuesday, June 20, and applicants must appear in person.

Commissioners appointed four Powell people to county boards in April and May: Tiffany Brando and Christy Muecke were added to the Park County Fair Advisory Board, Del Barton of Powell joined the museum board and Breanne Thiel became a member of the Park County Predator Management Advisory Board.
