After a lengthy battle with liver cancer, Powell Mayor Don Hillman died today (Saturday) at Spirit Mountain Hospice House in Cody.
Hillman had served as Powell's mayor since 2013 and had just started his second term in office.
He announced at the Jan. 3 Powell City Council meeting that his health issues were going to sideline him indefinitely.
“Hopefully I’ll get to come back. But there is that possibility too," Hillman told the council at the time.
Hillman was a longtime Montana Dakota Utilities employee and served two terms on the council before becoming mayor. Hillman and his wife, Judie, have two children, Raquel (Hillman) Schwab and Jason Hillman, and three grandchildren.
A more complete story will follow in Tuesday's edition of the Tribune.
