CBS to feature locals and their guns Sunday morning

Posted

Cody area residents and their relationship with guns will be the subject of a piece airing this weekend on CBS stations across the nation.

Multiple locals — including Park County Sheriff Scott Steward — are expected to be included in the upcoming episode of “CBS News Sunday Morning.”

“In Cody, Wyoming, shooting is a community tradition passed down through bloodlines,” CBS said in a preview of the segment. The piece, titled “Guns: A family affair,” was reported by longtime broadcast journalist Ted Koppel.

According to CBS’ preview, other segments in Sunday’s broadcast will include examinations of America’s mystique over firearms, whether “good guys with guns” can stop gun violence, the new favorite weapon for U.S. Marines and the gun control views of the parents of a TV journalist who was gunned down by a disturbed former colleague in Virgina last year.

The 90-minute program begins at 7 a.m. Sunday on local CBS affiliates.

It’s the second time in two weeks that Cody has had a connection to the “Sunday Morning” show; the March 6 program featured some of the artistic work of Jackson Pollock, a Cody native.
