Local law enforcement personnel — apparently looking for evidence of drug activity — searched inside an East Fifth Street apartment building this afternoon.
Personnel searching the building were wearing hazardous materials suits, which Powell Police Lt. Alan Kent described as a precaution aimed at being safe rather than sorry. As an additional precaution, officers had the children who were heading from the middle school to the Boys and Girls Club walk on the opposite side of the street from the search, Kent said.
Citing an ongoing investigation by the Wyoming Division of Criminal Investigation, Kent declined to provide details about the nature of the search on Friday afternoon. More information should be available next week.
