Powell man killed in car crash

Posted

A rollover Wednesday night took the life of a Powell man and hospitalized his passenger.

The driver, identified as Christopher Boswell, 45, of Powell, was northbound in a 2009 GMC pickup on Wyo. Highway 32, approximately 2 miles north of the junction of Wyo. Highway 32 and U.S. Highway 14-16-20 Wednesday night.

He drifted off the road on the east side of the highway, overcorrected to the west side of the highway when the pickup began rotating counter clockwise. The pickup slid off the road, hit a patch of dirt and rolled, said Trooper Dan Walker of the Wyoming Highway Patrol.

Boswell was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected from the vehicle. He died on the scene, Walker said.

The passenger was Stephen Parker, 23, of Powell, said Lt. Phil Farman of the Wyoming Highway Patrol.

Parker was lifeflighted to Billings Clinic from the scene, Walker said.

“I’m doing good,” said Parker Friday morning from the Billings Clinic. He said he suffered some facial injuries.

Parker said he was wearing his seat belt.

“Wearing a seat belt will definitely increase your chances of surviving any collision,” Walker said.

The crash is under investigation. Alcohol and speed may have been a factor, Walker said.

Services will be held at 6 p.m. Monday at St. Barbara’s Catholic Church in Powell with a reception immediately following at The Eagles in Powell.

A memorial fund has been established at First Bank of Wyoming, and checks payable to Brianna Boswell can be sent to the Chris Boswell Memorial Fund, P.O. Box 907, Powell, WY 82435.
