Panthers celebrate Homecoming Week

Posted

Expect to see a lot of orange and black around town this week as the Powell Panthers celebrate Homecoming.

On Wednesday, PHS students will compete in the Homecoming Olympics at 6:30 p.m. at the Park County Fairgrounds.

The PHS cross country team holds its only home meet on Thursday. The Powell Invitational begins at 3:30 p.m. at the Powell Golf Course.

Also on Thursday, the PHS girls’ swim team competes against Cody at 5 p.m. at the Powell Aquatic Center.

The week culminates Friday night when the undefeated Panther football team takes on the Warriors beginning at 7 p.m.

Prior to Friday night’s game, the Panthers will hold their Homecoming parade in downtown Powell beginning at 3:30 p.m. The parade route will go south on Bent Street, turn east on First Street, then heads north on Clark Street.

The week also features a variety of dress-up days. Monday’s theme was decades day, and students will wear polka-dots and stripes today (Tuesday). Wednesday features colors for each class, and Thursday is senior citizen day. Then on Friday, students, teachers and residents alike will break out their orange and black to show their support for the Powell Panthers.
