An 87-year-old Lovell man who had been missing for over a week was found alive on Friday, police said.
Phillip Whaley was located near his disabled vehicle in Big Horn County, Mont., about 35 miles north of Lovell, Lovell police said in a Facebook post.
Police said a group of horseback riders located Whaley and his vehicle and notified law enforcement. A medical helicopter was dispatched to the scene and transported Whaley to a hospital in Billings.
Authorities said foul play is not suspected.
The Lovell Police Department and Big Horn County Sheriff’s Office thanked the public for their assistance in sharing information during the search investigation. Lovell police also thanked to the Big Horn County Search and Rescue volunteers for their assistance.
A family member had said in an earlier Facebook post that Whaley had last been seen at Lovell's Maverik around 7:30 p.m. on Friday, June 28.
