Stars take to the stage Friday

Twenty-seven youth from Powell and the surrounding area will showcase their talents during the annual Stars of Tomorrow show Friday, Feb. 22.

The show is open to students from kindergarten through 12th grade. This year’s entertainment includes vocals, instrumentals, dancing and even a magic act, said Bruce Morse, who co-chairs the event for the Kiwanis Club of Powell.

Prizes are awarded to the winners of each grade division: kindergarten through second grade, third through fifth grades, sixth through eighth and ninth through 12th grades.

In addition, winners of the high school age group have the option of advancing to the division Stars of Tomorrow show. This year’s division show will take place March 23 in Buffalo.

Children in the youngest age group all receive medallions.

“This is a way to showcase amazing talent from our area’s youth,” Morse said.

The local show begins at 7 p.m. Friday at Powell High School. Tickets are available at the door and cost $5 for adults and $3 for seniors and students.

The Powell Kiwanis Club has sponsored the show for more than 50 years. Net proceeds help pay for area Kiwanis-sponsored activities, which focus primarily on youth programs.
