Churches hosting special Christmas services

Many of Powell’s churches will celebrate Christmas with special services next week. Some churches also will host New Year’s celebrations.

The following services have been reported to the Tribune:

• First Southern Baptist: Christmas Musical: "Silent Night! Holy Night!" Sunday, Dec. 23 10:45 a.m. Christmas Eve service Monday, Dec. 24 6 p.m., carols, scripture and Lord's supper.

• St. John's Episcopal: Christmas Eve service at 6 p.m. Trumpet trio and children's program followed by Holy Communion.

• First Baptist Church: Christmas Eve candlelight service at 6 p.m. • Garland Community Church: Christmas Eve service at 7 p.m.

• St. Barbara's Catholic Church: Christmas Eve Mass at 6 p.m. and midnight and Christmas Day Mass at 9 a.m.

• Harvest Community Church of the Nazarene: Christmas candlelight service at 6 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 23; Family Game Night from 8 p.m.-midnight on New Year's Eve, Monday, Dec. 31.

• Hope Lutheran Church : Christmas Eve service at 7 p.m. • Union Presbyterian Church: Christmas Eve communion and candlelight service at 7 p.m.

• New Life Church: Christmas Eve service at 5 p.m. and 6:30 p.m.

• Trinity Bible Church: Christmas Eve service at 6:30 p.m., followed by a time fellowship

• Immanuel Lutheran Church: Christmas Eve children’s program and candlelight service at 7 p.m.; Christmas Day special service at 9 a.m.; and New Year’s Eve service at 7 p.m.

• Glad Tidings Assembly of God: Christmas Eve service from 6-7 p.m.

• Cornerstone Community Fellowship: Christmas Eve candlelight service begins at 5:30 p.m. at Plaza Diane in downtown Powell.

• First United Methodist Church: Worship/Children's Pageant followed by pancake breakfast at 10 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 23; Christmas Eve candlelight service and carols worship at 7 p.m.

• Charity Baptist Church: Services on Sunday, Dec. 23 at 10 a.m. and 6 p.m., with communion.
