With snow on the ground, decorations hung downtown and holiday events on the calendar, it is starting to look like Christmas around Powell.
Holiday festivities begin Thursday, Nov. 15 with the annual Festival of Trees. Sponsored by the Powell Rotary Club, the event features Christmas trees created and donated by members of the community. The Festival of Trees will be on display at The Commons in downtown Powell from 3-7 p.m. Thursday and 5:30-8 p.m. Friday. For a chance to win trees, purchase tickets from any Rotary member. Proceeds will benefit the Powell Boys and Girls Club.
Another holiday favorite, Sample the Season, takes place from 5-7 p.m. Friday. Business owners invite residents to stroll through as they keep their stores open after hours during the annual “sampling” of what’s new this holiday season.
Holiday festivities will continue in coming weeks with Santa’s Workshop on Nov. 23, Country Christmas Dec. 1, the Tour of Homes Dec. 2 and a Holiday Open House at the Heart Mountain Interpretive Center Dec. 8.
