One teen killed, another injured in Wednesday crash

Posted

A 17-year-old Powell boy died in a Wednesday rollover southeast of town, while another teen was injured.

William C. Hill was a passenger in a southbound 1987 GMC pickup on Road 7 when the vehicle rolled, said a Thursday morning news release from the Wyoming Highway Patrol. Hill, who was wearing a seat belt, died at the scene, the release said.

A funeral service will be held Monday in Powell. His obituary can be found here.

The driver, John L. Nave, 17, was taken to Powell Valley Hopsital with injuries the patrol did not specify. Nave was also wearing his seat belt, the release said.

The crash, which occurred around 12:15 p.m., necessitated the temporary closure of Road 7 near its intersection with Lane 11.

"Upon completion of the crash investigation all information will be turned over to the Park County Attorney’s Office for their review," said the release. "That office will make the final determination as to the filing of any criminal charges as a result of this crash."

Editor's note: This version corrects that the crash was east, not west, of Powell. It also corrects Nave's age, incorrectly stated by the Wyoming Highway Patrol.
