Invesigators arrested a man Saturday in connection with the Oct. 8 abduction of an 11-year-old girl in Cody.
The FBI announced the arrest in a 6 p.m. news release Sunday. The man was arrested in Belgrade, Mont., according to the release from FBI spokesman Dave Joly. The Wyoming Highway Patrol said in a status update on Facebook that the vehicle suspected to have been used in the abduction (a white Toyota 4-Runner) was also found by law enforcement. The Billings Gazette first noted the Facebook posting.
Joly, on behalf of investigators, thanked the public and the media for their cooperation and assistance in the case.
The suspect had reportedly the girl into his SUV Monday afternoon near the Park County Complex by claiming he needed help finding a missing puppy. A group of hunters found the girl in the Carter Mountain area about four and a half hours later.
The man's identity and details of the arrest were not released Sunday night. Officials will hold a news conference Monday morning in Cody to discuss the case.
