Maria Garcia of 1272 W. 7th St., Powell, died Friday, July 4 at the Powell Hospital. She was 52.
She was born Dec. 28, 1950 in Mission, Texas, daughter of Tony Garcia and Maria (Gonzales) Carrizales.
Cremation has taken place, and services for immediate family members have already been held. No further services are planned.
Her family will remember that Maria touched their hearts and leaves those behind with the memory of her strength and love for life and family.
Survivors include a son, Jamie Brady and wife Kari of Powell; a daughter, Anna Owens and husband Troy of Powell; a daughter-in-law, Jenny Padilla of Powell; four brothers Pete Garcia (Lori) and Noe Garcia, both of Lovell, Ish Garcia (Sam) of Powell and Joe Rendon of Texas; four sisters, Rafeala Wilson (John) and Esther Garza (Melch), both of Lovell; Emma Busch (Walter) of Chester, Mont., and Nabu Livingston of Cody; and 11 grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Torrie Waddell; a son, Johnny Padilla; a brother, Tony Garcia; a grandson, John Padilla Jr.; and a niece, Maria Lupe Brady.
A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, July 11 at Haskell Funeral Home in Lovell for long-time Powell resident Francis Jacob Smith, 94, who died Saturday, July 5 at the Loveland Good Samaritan Village in Loveland, Colo., where he lived for the last two and a half years.
Mr. Smith was born March 29, 1909, in Pesotum, Ill., son of Frank Smith and Anna (Best) Smith. He married Helen M. Olson on March 8, 1938, in Billings, Mont. She died in November of 2001.
He graduated from College High School in Greeley, Colo., in 1929 and worked for Montana-Dakota Utilities Co. in Elk Basin, north of Powell, for 38 years. Powell was his home for 57 years.
He was a member of the Elks Club for 70 years and was the president of the Wyoming State Elks Association in 1967.
He was an avid gardener and loved yard work. He also loved to travel.
Survivors include two sons, Stan Smith of Odessa, Texas, and Sid Smith of Thorton, Colo.; a daughter, Dianne Brady of Chesterbrook, Pa.; a brother, Wallace Smith, of Rogers, Ariz.; two sisters, Bertha Hopkin of Casper and Monica Mossberg of Greeley; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Graveside funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 12 at the Cowley Cemetery for J. Ted Johnson, 83, former Cowley and Powell resident, who died Monday, July 7 at Good Samaritan Nursing Center in Idaho Falls, Idaho.
He was born Jan. 22, 1920, in Cowley to John Edward Johnson and Inez Geraldine Johnson. He grew up in Cowley and attended schools there, then graduated from Byron High School.
He served in the U.S. Navy and was at Pearl Harbor when it was bombed at the beginning of World War II. He rejoined the armed forces in the 1950s in the U.S. Army as a Supply Sergeant and served in the Vietnam War, as well, before his retirement in the 1970s.
He married Clara Nadine Egan on Nov. 27, 1946, in Billings, Mont. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple.
He was a career military man most of his life and managed a propane distributorship after his retirement from the service. In 1967, the couple made their home in Powell. Three years ago, they moved to Idaho Falls to be near their daughters.
A member of the LDS Church, he served as a High Priest. He was a member of the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was a beautiful whistler and enjoyed tinkering with machinery.
Survivors include his wife Nadine of Idaho Falls; two daughters, Nancy (Helmut) Worle of Idaho Falls and Linda (Larry) Singleton of Osgood, Idaho; a sister, Alice Webster of Bountiful, Utah; 11 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by five brothers, Bruce, Glenn (Penny), Milas (Mike), Van and Rex; three sisters, Maude, Malena and Verona; and a grandson, Jared Worle.
Burial with military rites will be in the Cowley Cemetery, under the direction of Haskell Funeral Home.
Centenarian Bertha (Bert) Wiley, 100, died Wednesday, July 9 in the Powell Nursing Home.
She was born Sept. 28, 1902, in Alexandria, Nebr., where she completed her high school education. She attended Kearney State in Nebraska and taught school in Thayer and Fillmore Counties in Nebraska.
She married Albert Wiley in 1924. They lived in Chadron, Nebr., then moved to Canon City, Colo., where their son, Frank, was born. They came to Powell in 1933 where she and a partner operated a beauty salon until moving to Billings, Mont., in 1941. They remained there until her husband retired, then moved back to Powell for the rest of her life.
She loved all sports and card games, especially bowling, baseball, fishing and duplicate bridge. She was elected to the Billings Bowling Hall of Fame and the Montana Bowling Hall of Fame at Billings and was a bowling faithful in Powell.
Survivors include her daughter-in-law, Bette Wiley, of Laurel, Mont.; three grandchildren and their spouses, Cheri and Herm Streck of Laurel, Kenneth Wiley of Fromberg, Mont., and Janine and Richard Westrick of Fairbanks, Alas.; five great-grandchildren, Chad, Joey, Lance, Michelle and Natalie; and three great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 1972 and her son, Frank, in 1994.
Cremation has taken place.
Memorial services were conducted Saturday, July 12 at Garland Community Church for Albert A. Atkinson, who died Wednesday, July 9 at his Powell home. He was 67.
He was born Aug. 23, 1935, the son of Gertie Mae (Blankenship) and Edwin Fredrick Atkinson. He graduated from high school in Hulett.
On Nov. 19, 1969, he married Betty Nordwall in Casper. The couple made their home in Powell.
He served in the U.S. Navy Air Corps and was a chef by trade. He was a member of the Garland Community Church of God, the American Legion, Disabled American Veterans and the Eagles.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping.
Survivors include his wife, Betty, of the family home; a son, Boice (Marsha) Atkinson of Belgrade, Mont.; four daughters, Teresa (Mark) Huller of Bridger, Mont., Jody Sanford of Billings, Mont., Patricia (Arlo) Edelman of Bridger and Anita (Curtis) Bray of Troy, Mont.; a sister, Anna (Johnny) Jones of Bell Creek, Mont.; eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by a grandson, Steven Smith; brothers John Atkinson, Kenneth Atkinson, Lloyd Atkinson, Dick Atkinson, Robert Atkinson and Lionel Atkinson.
Pastor Roger Slack of Garland Community Church officiated at Saturday services.
Marilyn Faye (Bebee) Barrows, 49, of Sunburst, Mont., died at home Sunday, July 13 after a lengthy battle with cancer.
A memorial service will be conducted today (Tuesday, July 15) at 2 p.m. at the Sunburst Methodist Church.
She was born May 18, 1954, at Malta to Frank and Loretta (Henderson) Bebee. She grew up in Malta and graduated from high school there in 1972. She married Brian Barrows July 9, 1994, in Malta.
She worked as a bank teller at First National Bank in Powell and First State Bank in Malta. She dedicated her life to her children, husband, family and friends. She was a devoted and talented homemaker.
She loved making dried flower arrangements and crafts for her family and friends. Those lucky enough to be touched by her kindness will remember her beautiful smile and the twinkle in her eyes. She attended Sunburst Methodist Church.
Survivors include her husband, Brian Barrows of Sunburst; sons Charlie and Andy Scott of Powell and Shad (deAmbra) Barrows of Miles City, Mont.; a daughter, Christy Barrows of Bandera, Texas; her parents, Frank and Loretta Bebee of Malta; brothers Dennis (Joy) Bebee and Jim (Deb) Bebee, both of Malta; sisters Theresa (Bob) Frye of Malta, Cindy Bebee of Chinook, Mont., Annie (Shannon) Dunk of Sunburst and Connie (Bruce) Knudsen of Billings, Mont.; her mother-in-law, Doris Ehli of Sweeet Grass, Mont.; sister-in-law, Artha (Dick) Dunk of Sunburst; brother-in-law, Lee (Udeen) Barrows of Great Falls, Mont.; five grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to express gratitude and appreciation to the Sunburst, Sweet Grass and Kevin communities for their generosity and support.

Graveside funeral services for friends and family were held Monday at Crown Hill Cemetery in Powell for Robert B. Lamm, 79, Ralston, who died Thursday, July 17 at New Horizons Care Center in Lovell after a long and courageous battle with rheumatoid arthritis and infections.
He was born Sept. 23, 1923, in Scottsbluff, Neb., to True and Vera (Atkins) Lamm. He was the oldest of three sons.
He and Marjorie Cross were married in Alliance, Nebr., on Sept. 8, 1942. They moved to a farm on the East Willwood south of Powell in November of 1964 and farmed there until December of 1994 when they sold the farm.
He was a farmer, rancher and truck driver. He loved to hunt, fish and rodeo. He belonged to the Old Timers Rodeo Club for several years. and liked to calf rope and team rope. He was a header and 13th in the nation one year in the over 60-year-olds.
He dearly loved his two daughters, two grandchildren and three great-granddaughters.
Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Marjorie; daughter Nancy (Dewayne) Becking of Powell, grandson Tim and Liz Becking of Sheridan; great-granddaughter Kailee Becking; daughter Cheri (Gary) Stockburger of Beaverton, Ore.; granddaughter Shawna and Tod Garcia of Creswell, Ore., and great-granddaughters Mickayla and Shelby Garcia; step-great-granddaughter Mandy Garcia of Creswell, Ore.; brother Tom (Earladeen) Lamm of Torrington; sister-in-law Pauline Lamm of Absarokee, Mont.; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Dick; and nephew, Russ Lamm.
He was a member of the Presbyterian Church of Ft. Laramie.
Haskell Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Cliffhord Williams Snell- July 17
Funeral services will be Wednesday, July 23 at 1 p.m. at the Lovell LDS Church for Clifford Williams Snell, a native of Byron, who died Thursday, July 17 in Corvallis, Ore. He was 74.
He was born Sept. 16, 1928, in Byron, son of LeRoy and Bessie Snell. He was raised in Byron and graduated from Byron High School where he was active in all sports.
He joined the U.S. Navy in 1948 and served in the Korean War until 1952. After completing military service, he attended Northwest Community College in Powell and the University of Wyoming.
He went to work for Oil Well Supply, living in Wyoming, North Dakota, South Dakota, Utah, New Mexico, California and Oregon. He worked many years on the oil rigs until he had a serious accident in California. He returned to Byron during his recovery from this accident.
Then he worked for Georgia Pacific for 23 years in Lovell, retiring in 1990. After retiring, he moved to Corvallis, Ore., and worked for Oak Vale Apartments for eight years.
Mr. Snell was previously married in June, 1958, in Moab, Utah. He had two daughters, Cathy and Michelle, and one son, Tommy. Cliff married Gayla Hodson Kelsey in May 1971 in Lovell. This marriage was later solemnized in the Portland, Ore. Temple. He has a stepdaughter, Lola Kelsey Milburn, and a stepson, Gordon Kelsey. He was considered "Dad" by both for 32 years.
He was a member of the VFW for many years. He enjoyed bowling, hunting, fishing, golfing, working on his computer and woodworking. He loved his family greatly and spent a lot of time with each family member in individual ways. He will be remembered as a wonderful husband, father, brother, grandfather and great-grandfather.
Survivors include his wife, Gayla Snell; stepdaughter Lola Kelsey Milburn, Cathedral City, Calif.; stepson Gordon Kelsey, Corvallis; five grandchildren: Jason Milburn, Lander, Tobey Kay Milburn Garrett, Ione, Ore; Whitney, Colton and Paige Kelsey, Corvallis; three great-granddaughters, Lauren, Kaitlin and Alexis Garrett, Ione, Ore.; two great-grandsons, Justin and Jeffrey Milburn, Corvallis; four brothers and one sister, Russ Snell, Powell, Ray Snell, Lovell, Darwin and Roy Snell and Maxine Brinkerhoff, all of Utah.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Ivan Snell and Hillman Snell; his sisters, Cleo and LaReu; and his grandson, Tyler Jae Kelsey.
A viewing will be held tonight (Tuesday) from 6 to 8 p.m. at Haskell Funeral Home in Lovell. Interment will be in the Byron Cemetery.
Funeral services are scheduled Wednesday, July 23 at 10 a.m. at Smith Funeral Chapel in Laurel, Mont., for Ludwig (Lute) Thormahlen, 93, of Park City, Mont., formerly of Powell.
Mr. Thormahlen died Friday, July 18 at Stillwater Community Hospital after residing at Beartooth Manor in Columbus, Mont.
He was born in Withee, Wisc., on Feb. 24, 1910, the 10th child of Carsten and Magda Thormahlen. He came to Bridger, Mont., as a child, and the family settled in the Sandcreek region.
He married Magdalena Bouwens Sept. 19, 1934. He farmed, did mechanic work and custom threshing in the Bridger area. During World War II, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy.
He was blessed with three sons, Robert, David and Dennis. In 1950, the family moved to the Powell area where he farmed and also did mechanic work until approximately 1978. For the past 16 years, he and his long-time, loving wife, Magdalena, have lived in the Powell and Park City, Mont., areas.
Survivors include his wife of 68 years, Magdalena Thormahlen; a son, Bob Thormahlen of the Denver area, and a son, David (Gerri) Thormahlen of the Washington and Oregon areas; four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Burial will be in the Bridger Cemetery at approximately 11:30 a.m. Wednesday. A luncheon will follow at the Bridger Cafe. Memorials are suggested to St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Park City, MT 59063.
Retired rancher James Stephenson, 78, died Sunday morning, July 20 at the Powell Nursing Home.
Funeral services will be Friday, July 25 at 10 a.m. at First United Methodist Church in Powell. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Miratsky-Easton Funeral Home.
Graveside service will be Tuesday, July 29 at Horseshoe Cemetery in Glendo at 10 a.m.
Mr. Stephenson was born in Troy, Mont., on March 2, 1925 to Earl and Martha Stephenson. The family moved to a homestead around Glendo in 1928 where he was raised.
He grew up as a cowboy on the family ranch and on neighboring ranches. He served in the armed forces during World War II.
In 1949, he married Christine Hytrek and worked on a ranch as foreman for 13 years. Then he went to work for the Douglas post office and was there for 22 years. During the same time, he attended night school and learned refrigeration and went on to operate his own business.
In 1990, he bought a ranch near Powell and ran cattle until he retired in 1997.
Survivors include his sister, Vivian Cundall of Glenrock, and numerous nephews and nieces.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Christine, in 2000; by his parents; and two brothers, Joe and Richard.
Arrangements are under the direction of Miratsky-Easton Funeral Home.
Word has been received of the July 23 death in Provo, Utah, of former area resident Edwin George Andrews, 66. Death was the result of complications following surgery.
He was born May 4, 1937, in Lovell, son of Edwin France Andrews and Ellene Annetta Johnson. He had lived in Orem, Utah, since 1999.
He graduated from Deaver High School, Northwest Community College in Powell, Brigham Young University and received master's degrees from the University of Utah and Park University.
He was a member of the LDS Church and served a mission to the North Central States Mission, serving in Nebraska, Iowa and Illinois.
He was commissioned an officer in the U.S. Air Force in 1962 where he attained the rank of captain and served for 20 years in communications. He then worked as an education counselor in civil service and retired in 1999.
Survivors include sisters Faye (Richard) Baker of Worland, Helen (Terry) Jacobson of Dewey, Ariz., and Shirley (Harry) Zane of Heber City, Utah; brothers Ervin (Jean) Andrews of Powell and Ralph (Joyce) Andrews of Puyallup, Wash.; 13 nephews and 12 nieces; numerous great-nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents, two half brothers and one niece.
Funeral services were held July 28 in Orem, Utah.
Lindsey Neil Ringler, 50, died Friday, July 25 in Powell.
A memorial service is set Wednesday, July 30 at Ballard Funeral Home in Cody at 10:30 a.m.
Gerry Kopriva Pugh, 76, formerly of Hardin, Mont., and Powell, died peacefully in her Denver, Colo., home Saturday, July 26.
Funeral services will be at Hampden Memorial Garden/Olinger Hampden Mortuary Cemetery in Denver Tuesday, July 29 at 10 a.m.
Survivors include a daughter, Patricia Ann Pugh of Denver; two sons, Charles Brodie Pugh and his wife Suzanne Bahr of Denver and Robert John Pugh and his wife Debbie of Lake Havasu City, Ariz.; two sisters, Esther Louis Bradley of Denver and Renee Francis Huggins of Savannah, Ga.; and three grandchildren, Leslie Marie, Bianca Renee and Richard Brodie Pugh, all of Denver.
Memorial contributions may be made to the LaBrea Indian School, Ashland, Mont., or the Hospice of St. John's, Denver.
Kenneth R. (Rick) Husman- July 26
Memorial services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 2 at the First Presbyterian Church in Worland for Kenneth R. (Rick) Husman, 45, who died Saturday, July 26 at St. Vincent Hospital, Billings.
He was born Nov. 24, 1957, in El Paso, Texas, to Edward L. and Marilyn Husman. He graduated from Rawlins High School in 1976.
He worked for the Barrows Company at Ralston for 22 years. He was a member of the Powell Eagles Club and enjoyed hunting, fishing and anything to do with the outdoors.
Survivors include his parents, Ed and Marilyn Husman of Worland; son Joshua Husman Pomeroy of Laramie; a brother, Perry Husman of Valencia, Calif.; and sisters Vikki Williams of Valencia, Calif., and Karen Williamson of Casper.
Cremation has taken place.
