First-year coach says there’s no reason Panthers can’t win regional tournament

"The film never lies.”

That’s one reason Powell High School boys’ basketball coach Chase Kistler invests several hours each weekend to studying the games his team plays. Kistler watches tapes of the games at his office adjacent to the Panther gym.

The Powell City Council faces a decision Monday night. It has one retail liquor license to award, and two applicants for it.

Weather doesn’t hold to a schedule.

Snow and ice can and do land at any time of the day and on any day of the week. That has been particularly evident this winter, as Powell’s streets have been clogged with thick white powder time and time again.

More cold, more snow

Winter refuses to loosen icy grip on area as March approaches  

Saturday is March 1, the first day of what is termed meteorological spring, which divides the seasons into four three-month blocks.

Joann Bentz plans to live to be 100, and she thinks having chickens at her home can help her reach that goal.

The Powell City Council didn’t chicken out when it came to allowing chickens in the city limits.

Thumbs up to the transformation of the old Southside Elementary School into the new Trinity Bible Church. The church purchased the facility last summer, and we’re pleased to see it take on new life and a new look. For more than 50 years, thousands of Powell residents attended school in the building or worked there.

Panthers ‘in driver’s seat’

Smith nets 52 on weekend, but team focused on Lander now 

Coach Chase Kistler was very pleased with his team’s performance last weekend, as the Powell High School boys’ basketball team rolled to a pair of easy wins on its home court.

I can’t help but think Jay Leno got a raw deal.

While this surprisingly cold, wet winter has been an unpleasant burden for many of us, there was a silver lining in the clouds that dumped the snow and ice.
