What the hail is going on around here?

Many Powell area farmers who suffered crop damage from the July 30 hailstorm got slammed again Monday night.

A rider thrown from his horse on Sheep Mountain Saturday is on the mend following a two-day hospital stay.

Matthew Bell, 57, of Cody was hauling salt blocks with friends for heifers on Sheep Mountain when a covey of grouse flushed in front of his horse.

A McCullough Peaks mustang mare named Dazzle may have dodged the dart Thursday, but very soon she will be inoculated to preempt pregnancy for another year.

Hail storm hits powell crops hard

Tuesday evening’s sudden, violent storm damaged many Powell area crops just days before some would have been harvested.

The storm lashed the area around 6 p.m., bringing winds that topped out around 50 mph, hail and strong rain. Hail up to one-half inch in diameter was reported in Powell, according to local weather spotters.

Tuesday evening’s sudden, violent storm damaged many Powell area crops just days before some would have been harvested.

The storm lashed the area around 6 p.m., bringing winds that topped out around 50 mph, hail and strong rain. Hail up to one-half inch in diameter was reported in Powell, according to local weather spotters.

You could say Tyler McIntosh crashed the party.

McIntosh bashed his way to victory Saturday night in the Park County Fair Demolition Derby, but he wasn’t the only one to have a smashing time.

Riders retrace historic ride of Chief Joseph

It was out of the past, but at the same time, very much a part of the present.

A ride to remember the flight of Chief Joseph and his Nez Perce people 136 years ago passed through northern Wyoming last week.

“Here they come,” said Mike Weiner, gazing through his binoculars at the rider/horses, who, to the naked eye, resemble colorful dots on a very steep and distant slope.
