Grant paves way for Northwest College intercultural center
A grant from the National Endowment for the Humanities will provide $131,000 in matching funds for Northwest College to buy and remodel a home near the college to serve as an intercultural center.
That is a longtime dream for Harriet Bloom-Wilson, director of international programs at the college. She stressed that the center will benefit the entire college and the community in addition to serving as a “home base” for international students.
NWC board narrowly approves extending contract for Prestwich
The Northwest College Board of Trustees has narrowly agreed to begin negotiations with Paul Prestwich to keep him as president of the college through at least June of 2013.
With a split 4-3 vote during its Monday meeting in Meeteetse, the Northwest College Board of Trustees approved extending the contract with Prestwich for another year.

Cardwell donates $100,000 for OB improvements
Plans forming to renovate the Obstetrics Department at Powell Valley Hospital got a big boost recently through a $100,000 donation to the Powell Medical Foundation from Paul Cardwell, who came out of early retirement to take his position as chief executive officer at Powell Valley Healthcare earlier this year.
Cardwell said the one-time gift will go toward a maternity and family center at the hospital. He will determine whether additional money is available at the end of the tax year, he said.
