HMU-A, coached by Marcie Hobbs, finished the weekend of April 20 with a 0-1-1 record. The team drew its first game 5-5 in a high-scoring affair as Morgan Hobbs finished as the top scorer. The team lost to a counterpart Powell team by a 4-3 final. Morgan Hobbs connected for two of the team’s three goals while Elle Wilson added the last before heavy rain and wind prompted officials to whistle an early end to the contest.

Donna Belle Jones, 89, of Powell, died Friday, April 26, 2013 at Powell Valley Hospital. Belle, as she preferred to be called, was born on Nov. 29, 1923 in Helvey, Neb., the fourth child of Harry and Harriett Jacobs. She grew up on a dry land farm during the Depression and had very little but made do with what they had, a trait which persisted throughout her life.

Frances Evelyn Hopkin, 84, of Otto died Friday, April 26, 2013 at Powell Valley Hospital.

Frances was born Aug. 20, 1928 at home in Gould District, Big Horn County to John and Christina (Boelens) Snyder. She attended grade school in the old Gould school house, then attended and graduated from Greybull High School.

Anita Marlene Graves, 79, a longtime Worland resident, died Friday, April 26, 2013 after a courageous battle with cancer.

Linda L. Schaefer, 71, of Cody died after a long illness Friday, April 26, 2013 with her loving husband Gerald by her side at West Park Hospital.

Some Powell and Cody residents were without landline, cellular or Internet service from about 9:15 a.m. to 4 p.m. today (Monday) as a result of a cut fiber line. The Park County Sheriff's Office announced shortly before 4 p.m. that full service had been restored.

Field Stations recieves 84 inches of fresh powder in 14 days

A late Sunday snowstorm delivered 0.11 inches of precipitation to Powell. More snow continued to fall Monday.

Mother Nature may have dumped a bit more on the Heart Mountain area.
