(Nov. 3, 1945 - April 13, 2002) Word has been received of the April 13 death in Garden City, Kans., of former Powell resident, Louise L. Hawkins, 77. She was a native of Rock County, Wisc., and married Robert E. Hawkins on Nov. 3, 1945, at Janesville, Wisc.She and her husband moved to a ranch near Powell in 1969, and she was employed with the then American National Bank. Her husband died June 29, 1992.She moved to Garden City, Kans., in 1996. She was an avid reader and enjoyed gardening, bird watching and being with her grandchildren.She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Garden City and American Legion Auxiliary Unit 26 of Powell. Survivors include a daughter, Jeanne Hurst of Boulder, Colo.; two sons, James Hawkins of Garden City and Joseph Hawkins of Santa Maria, Calif.; one brother, two sisters, eight grandchildren and one great-grandson.Private family services were held. Memorials are suggested to American Legion Auxiliary Unit 26.
