Heart Mountain United secretary Susan Bauer told the Tribune Monday that Shane Kannard was let go according to Wyoming Soccer Association bylaws.

Boys soccer chasing a victory

Northwest Quadrant can be clinched with win today  

A season-long three-game losing streak has put a damper on a PHS boys’ soccer season that started with great promise.

But all is not lost as the Panthers have a chance to clinch the Northwest Quadrant and an automatic bid to the state tournament with a win against Worland (4-8, 1-1 in the Northwest) today (Tuesday) at Panther Stadium.

Girls drop two at home

Non-conference losses to Buffalo, Jackson snap 3-game win streak  

The Powell High School girls’ soccer team lost to Buffalo and Jackson over the weekend, ending the Panthers’ three-game winning streak.

Rebecca Pratt scored in the first half and the Panther defense stood strong down the stretch as the Powell High School girls’ soccer team beat Cody 1-0 Tuesday afternoon.

The road win was its first Northwest Quadrant victory and third straight overall.

Boys handed first loss of season

Offense sputters in Cody  

The Powell High School boys’ soccer team hadn’t played a game since beating Cody on April 7, and it showed.

The Panthers (4-1, 2-1 in the Northwest) are no longer undefeated after losing 2-1 in Cody Tuesday evening, but still control their own destiny.

The Cody Warrior Lacrosse Club may be in its first year, but it has already recruited one eager Powell player.

Bodie Heintz, 11, is a midfielder for the Warriors, who began their inaugural season Saturday in Billings.

Sean Wagner stands in an empty, echoing Powell High School gym with a wide stance and crossed arms.

He isn’t closing himself off, but if he’s naturally guarded, it would make sense. Wagner is the starting goalkeeper for the 4-0 Powell Panthers soccer team.

Pioneers lose top player

Frankie Vogt to skip final season of eligibility  

The 2014 Powell Pioneers should look a lot like the 2013 version, except for the glaring absence of their best player.

Frankie Vogt, the 2013 North District Player of the Year and A-League All-State selection, will be gone from an otherwise intact Pioneers squad, which begins its season in mid-May.

The Powell High School soccer teams will look to keep their respective winning streaks alive when they resume play today (Tuesday) in Cody.

The Panther girls will kick things off with a 4 p.m. game with the boys to follow.

PHS duals Cody in impromptu meet

The Powell High School track and field teams beat the conditions to set some personal records Tuesday afternoon in a dual versus Cody.

Senior Tori Sleep set new bests in the shot put and discus, respectively. Her throw of 41 feet, 9 inches in the shot put improves her already state-best mark and her throw of 136 feet, 6 inches moved her to second in Wyoming in the discus.
