Eight swimmers qualify in 15 new events

The Powell High School boys swimming and diving team added 15 more state qualifications in two meets last weekend.

It’s 5:45 a.m. and everything is very real.

For the third time in eight days the Powell High School boys’ swim team faced off against the Lander Tigers, but for the first time this season the Panthers did so from the comfort of home.

Lander defeated Powell in Saturday’s dual at the Powell Aquatic Center 114-66, but the Panthers continued to rack up qualifying times.

Panther boys lose to 2A Bulldogs

The Powell Panthers committed 14 turnovers and shot 31 percent from the field in a 61-50 loss to the class 2A Lovell Bulldogs Thursday night at Powell High School.

Looking to head into the winter break with a winning record, the Powell Panthers (2-4, 1-1) were unable to sustain a consistent offense or come up with timely stops in the frustrating loss.
