Powell’s best youth baseball players are headed to Riverton Wednesday for the Wyoming District 1 Little League Tournament.

The Powell Minors Division All-Star Team (ages 9-10) and Powell Majors Division All-Star Team (ages 11-12) will each battle for a spot in Wyoming’s state Little League tournament in Laramie July 24-27.

Powell Swim Club’s summer season is ramping up with two weekend meets that will provide a new set of challenges to eight Powell swimmers.

The Powell Pioneers staved off a late Lovell Mustangs comeback to win their third league game of the season 11-9 Monday night in Cowley.

It’s a good thing the Twin Cities Tournament doesn’t count toward All-Star team records.

The Powell Minor and Major All-Star teams combined for a 1-6 record over the weekend.

Offense vanishes against Outlaws

The Miles City Outlaws didn’t have to resort to an illegal activity. The Powell Pioneers’ offense did them a favor by showing up dead on arrival.

No matter how badly I try, I just can’t seem to run into a bear alone in the woods.

It was a judgment call not even the most hard-headed of Powellites could argue.

Calvin Sanders, Powell native and lifelong devotee to America’s pastime, planned to apply to umpire in the Little League World Series West Regional next year. As it turned out, he didn’t have to.

Pitching depth carried the Powell Diamondbacks all the way to the championship game but the lack of a true ace cost them in the winner-take-all match against the Lovell Dodgers in Little League Minors play.
