After weeks of fighting injuries, the Powell High School girls’ cross country program was able to field a full lineup, posting a third-place finish amid chilly conditions at the Powell Golf Club last Friday. The Powell boys finished as the meet runner-up on their home course.

For the second time in a month, Northwest College freshman Ana Jakovljevic has been named the NJCAA national player of the week in Division I volleyball. The award came in a week where Jakovljevic turned in a trio of performances that featured more than 20 kills, including a season-high 34 kills in a five-game Trapper victory at Casper College.

It marked the second time this season the Panthers have hung 60-plus points on an opponent and the second time the team has triggered a running clock in the second half.

NWC Trappers take Region IX North lead
Wins at Sheridan, Casper lift volleyball to top of standings
The Northwest College volleyball team took over the top spot in Region IX North volleyball play over the weekend with wins at Sheridan College and Casper College. The victories improve the Trappers to 15-10 overall and 6-1 in regional play entering the season’s final month.

A 13-0 shutout of No.2 Star Valley was more than enough to keep the Powell Panthers firmly entrenched as the No. 1 team in Wyoming 3A football, according to the latest Wyopreps coaches and media poll. It wasn’t enough to convince all of the state’s voters, however.
Schoessler wins state chess title
State title his first
Powell resident Tim Schoessler captured the Wyoming state chess title in late September in Casper, sweeping his three opponents across the board on his way to victory. The state title was the first for Schoessler, who made his first appearance in the championship event at the age of 16.
