Trapper men score big win over Nebraska
Team enters holidays at 12-5 overall
The Northwest College men’s basketball team picked up a pair of wins to enter the holiday break, sweeping Western Nebraska (91-83) and Aaniiih Nokoda (95-29) in the Trapper Tournament. The weekend event wrapped up the 2012 portion of the Trapper’s schedule.

Panthers remain unbeaten in dual action
The third-ranked Powell Panthers topped Montana No. 1 Billings Skyview 33-28 to capture first place in the Battle of the Big Horns in Worland on Saturday. Powell won all seven of its matches in the all-dual tournament format, running the team’s mark to 9-0 this season in head-to-head competition.

The third-ranked Powell High School wrestling team won its first seven matches by fall on the way to a 65-13 rout of Laurel, Mont., on Tuesday night. The Panthers had nine pins in all and added a technical fall while improving to 2-0 in duals this season.

The Northwest College Trapper men’s and women’s basketball teams scored a road sweep at Dawson Community College on Tuesday night. The Trapper women were 80-71 winners while the Trapper men came out 70-55 victors to capture their first Region IX game of the season.

Thompson leads field of six Panther placewinners
The Powell High School wrestling team placed six wrestlers in the top eight in Rapid City, S.D., over the weekend, including a runner-up finish by junior Zach Thompson. As a team, the Panthers placed ninth overall in the crowded 35-school field.

Northwest completes sweep of Western
The Northwest College wrestling team used its superiority at the lighter weights to capture a 28-19 dual victory over Western Wyoming and remain unbeaten this season. The Trappers won five of the nine matches wrestled on Tuesday night and also picked up a forfeit win at 184 pounds.

Team improves to 9-3 as regional play starts
The Northwest College Trapper men’s basketball team picked up a trio of victories last weekend, defeating the Montana Western JV squad and scoring back-to-back wins over the Northwest All-Stars. The wins stretched the Trappers’ record to 9-3, but left head coach Brian Erickson concerned.
