A woman who was sexually assaulted by an on-duty Powell police officer five years ago is being allowed to have the Police Department’s internal investigation into the crime. Her attorney got the confidential reports only after obtaining the permission of the former officer himself and getting a court order.

A Powell woman fell victim to phone scammers last week, being conned into giving them $3,000 in iTunes gift cards; the men had claimed the gift cards were the only way to pay off a debt to the Internal Revenue Service and avoid arrest.

Embattled state lawmaker Sam Krone of Cody — who lost his bid for re-election last week — has been prohibited from practicing law while the Wyoming State Bar investigates alleged misconduct.

Did a registered nurse sexually assault an unconscious patient during a surgery in Cody last year? That question likely will not be answered by a jury until next spring.

Last year’s oil and gas downturn means fewer property taxes now

Park County’s schools, cities, fire departments, cemeteries and other tax districts expect to collect nearly $45.5 million in property taxes this year — about $16.5 million (26 percent) less than last year.

Would you pay an extra 1 percent of sales tax to fund $13.68 million worth of new bridges, sewage systems and other infrastructure around Park County? Local voters will answer that question in November’s general election.
