NWC radio, TV programs to be considered for possible budget cuts
College leaders plan to take a broad look at all programs during NWC budget analysis
Radio and television programming from Northwest College could cease following the resignation of Dennis Davis, NWC assistant professor of journalism and mass communication.
Davis singlehandedly teaches classes in the NWC radio and television broadcasting programs, and he oversees broadcasting on NWC-TV and the college’s radio station, KNWT. His last day is May 18, and a decision on whether to replace him has been delayed by the NWC President’s Advisory Council. Davis is completing his 15th year at Northwest.
EDITORIAL: NWC radio, television programs in jeopardy
Northwest College leaders got the number they’ve been waiting for Monday, and it wasn’t pretty.
Due to a likely reduction in state funding, the college expects to cut approximately $1 million from its already slimmed-down budget. Easily identified and implemented cuts were made last year; trimming another $1 million for the 2013-14 school year budget is going to require deeper, more painful cuts.

EDITORIAL: Making holidays happier
Recent events in the nation and closer to home provide tragic reminders that the holidays, while cherished by many, are not happy for everyone.
People nationwide are shocked and are mourning alongside the families of the children and adults who were killed in the Connecticut school shooting last week. Though far removed by distance, our thoughts, prayers and emotions are tied to those who are grieving and hurting, especially at this time of year.
