Does Powell need a golf course?

Well, it depends on who you ask.

City councilmen said Monday that they’ve received mixed responses from the community. Some absolutely negative. Some assuredly positive. And many others somewhere in between.

Just as the community is split, so is the Powell City Council.

City looks at sharing repair costs with property owners

Uneven Bent Street sidewalks have prompted city officials to examine the root of the problem: Trees.

Back-to-back summers of fatal grizzly attacks and recent bear/hunter encounters underscore the real risks of being in bear country.

Winter weather may be around the corner, but things are greening up on Powell’s western edge.

On Monday afternoon, Powell Valley Recycling opened at its new location at 946 Road 10, just across from the west water tower.

Though it’s a bit too early for trick-or-treating, local youth will go door to door Wednesday night seeking edible items — not for themselves, but for Powell Valley Loaves and Fishes.

Culture changing, but enforcement needs to continue

Being in the business of reusing and salvaging, it’s only fitting that Powell Valley Recycling is repurposing an older building into a new center to fit its needs. Reconstruction of the former Park County road and bridge shop is under way, and after some delays, the recycling center is on track to open in its new location this month.

Any family who has lost a pet knows the heartache that follows as you search and hope for its safe return home.

In a sad and aggravating situation that unfolded recently, that heartache deepened when a lost dog was found — but not returned.
