(Feb. 28, 1919 – Feb. 14, 2009)Maxine Bjorke, 89, died Saturday, Feb. 14 in Thermopolis. She was born Feb. 28, 1919, in Cheyenne to Elsie Miller and Julian Macdonald. She moved with her parents to the oil fields of Midwest in 1923. Maxine married Robert Burch in 1936 and moved to Culver City, Calif. She finished high school and three years of college. Maxine received a private pilot license in 1940 through a government-sponsored program. She worked at Lockheed Aircraft in Burbank, Calif. from 1941 to 1960. Bob and Maxine were divorced in 1958. In 1963, she married Martin Bjorke. Martin died in Lovell in 1987. Maxine is survived by her step-daughter, Winnie Louise (Brent) Zeller of Thermopolis, and her step-son, Edward Aden of Rock Springs, as well as four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. As per her wishes, no services are planned. Haskell Funeral Home of Lovell is in charge of arrangements.
