The Sports Guy is out in Washington, so this week’s column is coming to you penned from the road. There’s two ways to think of this.
One, I’m on vacation resting up for the start of the school year. Or, two, I’m in pre-season training for the 2,254 round trip miles that it’ll take to simply follow Panther football this fall, not counting playoff games.

The tone sounds. Accelerators are hit and drivers launch themselves into motion, navigating turns, straightaways and a variety of jumps and bumps. A burst of speed at the wrong moment causes one vehicle to land nose-first, tumbling several times before coming to a rest on its side.

The last baseball team playing in Powell this summer was also the youngest baseball team playing. The Powell All-Stars 9-10 year-old team dropped a pair of games in Gillette to finish fourth in state during tournament play this week.

Former PHS graduate offering tennis clinic
Professional tennis instructor Jon Park in town Aug. 11-12
Powell High School graduate and former collegiate tennis player Jon Park will return to Powell on Aug. 11-12 to conduct a tennis clinic in his former home community. Park is now a teaching professional in The Woodlands, Texas.
