After waiting for nearly a month, the Northwest College volleyball team finally had an opportunity to play before a home crowd last weekend. The Trappers swept Laramie County Community College 3-0 on Friday, but saw a rally fall just short in a 3-2 loss to Eastern Wyoming.

Season opens strong for NWC rodeo team
Northwest College came within 60 points — the equivalent of a third-place finish — from knocking off defending women’s national champion Montana State University on Saturday as college rodeo season opened in Cody last weekend. After two full rodeos, three Trappers currently sit atop the Big Sky Region standings.

The college football landscape is changing. Again. Still.
There was a brief window of time where it appeared everything had settled down this off-season. Nebraska to the Big Ten. Colorado to the PAC-12. TCU to the Big East. BYU out the door to independence and Nevada and Fresno State into the Mountain West. That was supposed to be the end of the drama.
PHs holds off Buffalo for win

Josh Cragoe ran in the go-ahead touchdown with 5:09 remaining on Friday night, then snuffed No. 2 Buffalo’s final possession with an interception to help preserve a 20-17 football victory for third-ranked Powell.
The Panthers improved to 2-0 this season with the hard-fought win.
Trapper Soccer has a busy weekend
Trapper men send scoreboard soaring in wins
The Northwest College men’s soccer team pushed scoreboard operators to the extreme last week while earning a trio of victories. The Trapper men scored a 7-5 win against Region IX opponent Western Nebraska and followed it with weekend wins of 4-1 over North Idaho and 7-0 over Bismarck State College.
Cowboys host Texas State on Saturday
The Wyoming Cowboys will host the Texas State Bobcats on Saturday in the first meeting between the two schools. The game is scheduled to kick off at 4 p.m. at Wyoming’s War Memorial Stadium.
Texas State will be the second consecutive Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) team that Wyoming will play this season. The Cowboys opened the 2011 season with a 35-32 home victory over Weber State last Saturday. Wyoming is 8-0 versus FCS teams since 2000, and has played at least one FCS team in each of the last four seasons.

NWC rallies despite playing a man down
Down a man and down a goal, the Northwest College men’s soccer team rallied late to take a draw against seventh-ranked Otero. The result could prove a valuable point in the Region IX standings.
“That was a tremendous result for us,” said Trapper head coach Rob Hill. “To play the No. 7 team a man down and come out with a tie…the guys gave a great effort.”
