First semester lifts team four places
The National Junior College Athletic Association updated its national wrestling rankings for the first time in almost two months and the change brought good news to the Northwest College Trappers. Thanks to the strength of their first semester performance, NWC rose four spots to seventh in the nation.

The Northwest College women’s basketball team enters the Christmas break on a three-game winning streak after defeating Aaniiih Nokoda, 91-38, and the Wyoming/Montana All-Stars, 78-63, over the weekend. The Trappers are 9-6 now overall and 2-1 in Region IX North play.

The Northwest College men’s basketball team picked up a pair of wins to enter the holiday break, sweeping Western Nebraska (91-83) and Aaniiih Nokoda (95-29) in the Trapper Tournament. The weekend event wrapped up the 2012 portion of the Trapper’s schedule.
Battle of the Big Horns goes to Powell
Panthers remain unbeaten in dual action
The third-ranked Powell Panthers topped Montana No. 1 Billings Skyview 33-28 to capture first place in the Battle of the Big Horns in Worland on Saturday. Powell won all seven of its matches in the all-dual tournament format, running the team’s mark to 9-0 this season in head-to-head competition.
Panthers pin loss on Laurel
PHS rolls to 65-13 victory
The third-ranked Powell High School wrestling team won its first seven matches by fall on the way to a 65-13 rout of Laurel, Mont., on Tuesday night. The Panthers had nine pins in all and added a technical fall while improving to 2-0 in duals this season.
