Politics has no place in education.

We commend the Park County School District No. 1 Board of Trustees in Powell for looking past political rhetoric to do what’s right for 37 students whose education is in jeopardy.

On Wednesday morning, the Powell City Council and city administration put the brakes on making a final decision on where and how to haul household waste.

That was a very smart move.

Events at home occupy the thoughts of three Northwest College students more than usual these days.

For them, home is Ukraine — a place that, due to Russia’s annexation of Crimea, has dominated world news in recent weeks.

After seemingly being used as budgetary pawns in last fall’s federal sequestration, America’s national parks are getting more respect from the federal government these days — and, it appears, more money as well.

An international student attending Northwest College died early Tuesday morning when he fell off a balcony at a Denver hotel.

Suspended local doctor resigns

‘Patient safety’ cited by PVHC

A doctor who was suspended last year due to “patient safety concerns” has resigned from Powell Valley Healthcare.

"I feel so good I can hardly stand it,” Tim Seeley said last week.

That’s something he, his wife Lynnae and their three children celebrate every day. It’s also a dramatic change from his outlook from just more than a month ago.

Powell stands to gain another quality restaurant soon, following approval of the city’s last retail liquor license by the Powell City Council on Monday.
