EDITORIAL: Finding new visions and directions for Powell
Good news mixed with bad recently regarding Powell’s business community and economic health.
Linda Lee Bircher-Van Buren
(Nov. 24, 1946 - Feb. 25, 2013)
Linda Lee Bircher-Van Buren died peacefully at her home on Feb. 25, 2013 with her husband, George, and her cats at her side. She was 66.
Linda was born in Wilson on Nov. 24, 1946 to Andy and Gertrude Bircher and joined four sisters, Lois, Betty, Jean and Barbara and two brothers, Jerry and Kenny, at the family home on the banks of Fish Creek.
Nea Sandra Schwager Yetter
(July 15, 1932 - March 1, 2013)
Nea Sandra Schwager Yetter, 80, of Cody and formerly of Meeteetse, died peacefully in her sleep March 1, 2013, at her home with family by her side. Nea was a longtime resident of Meeteetse where she was born and raised.
Lynn Wesley Fross
Lynn Wesley Fross, 85, died Tuesday, March 5, 2013 at his home in Powell.
Funeral services will be held Friday, March 8 at 2 p.m., at the Assembly of God Church in Powell.
Joseph E. Darrah
(Sept. 25, 1938 - Feb. 28, 2013)
Joseph E. Darrah died on Thursday, Feb. 28, 2013 while surrounded by his family in Powell. He was 74.
Joe was born in Cody on Sept. 25, 1938 to Harrison “Hank” and Mabel (Mix) Darrah.
Richard A. Haberstroh
(Jan. 18, 1925 - Feb. 27, 2013)
Richard A. Haberstroh of Cody died at West Park Hospital’s Spirit Mountain Hospice House on Wednesday, Feb. 27, 2013. He was 88.
Richard was born on Jan. 18, 1925 in Astoria, N.Y., to Ernst and Luise Haberstroh. He was raised and educated in the Queens and Manhattan areas, attending grade school and high school there.
Victor Jacob Bush
(Aug. 13, 1924 - Feb. 20, 2013)
Victor Jacob Bush died Wednesday, Feb. 20, 2013 at the Powell Valley Care Center. He was 88.
He was born to Fred and Eva Bush on Aug. 13, 1924 in Kane. He grew up on the family farm and attended school in Lovell, graduating from Lovell High School in 1942. He married Geri Robinson on June 10, 1949. They were blessed with five children: Fred, Debbie, Bob, Beverly Jo and Julie.
Joanie Marie Hanebury Davison
(Sept. 10, 1947 - Feb. 17, 2013)
Joanie Marie Hanebury Davison died in her sleep on Sunday morning, Feb. 17, 2013 at the University of Colorado Hospital in Denver, Colo. Joanie lived with her husband and partner Mitch Davison on their farm near Powell. She was 65 years young.
Alvin Earl ‘Robby’ Robinson
(Dec. 11, 1915 - Feb. 23, 2013)
Alvin Earl “Robby” Robinson died peacefully at Spirit Mountain Hospice Saturday, Feb. 23, 2013. His heart gently stopped after 97 years.
Robby was born Dec. 11, 1915 on a ranch in Charlotte, Texas, the second of six sons of Lafayette Abraham and Ruby Bates Robinson. He graduated from Harlendale High School in San Antonio and went to San Antonio Jr. College while working on the wards at the San Antonio State Mental Hospital.

Fundraiser for Powell man March 2
The Powell community is once again coming together to help a friend and neighbor in need.
Brad McMillin has had ALS, also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease, for three years. On Jan. 1 he was sent to Billings for pneumonia and is now on a ventilator. McMillin spent 33 days at the hospital and five days at his son’s house in Bridger, Mont., before being re-admitted to the hospital from complications. On Feb. 8, his family’s prayers were answered and McMillin was able to come home to Powell.
