A late Sunday snowstorm delivered 0.11 inches of precipitation to Powell. More snow continued to fall Monday.

David Michael Bank of Cody died Thursday morning, April 18, 2013. He was 22.

David was a 2009 graduate and salutatorian at Cody High School and was a junior and a math major at Gonzaga University. He was kind, loyal, selfless, smart and compassionate.

In the early hours of Thursday, April 18, 2013, Terry (Teresa Ann) Hilliard died at her home, leaving behind a legacy of being a strong-willed, proud and independent woman. She was 98.

She was the second child of Michael and Susie Anania, born April 15, 1915 in Omaha, Neb. Her mother died when Terry was only 15, leaving her the responsibilities of cooking, cleaning and raising the younger kids. After leaving Omaha she went to beauty school and became a beautician.

A $1.7 million pavement improvement project is tentaively scheduled to begin this week just east of Powell on U.S. Highway 14-A.

Evelyn Lorene Sparks, 96, died Sunday, April 7, 2013, at the Powell Valley Care Center after having been a resident for a few months. Prior to that, she resided at The Heartland assisted living center in Powell for six years.

(Feb. 20, 1939 - March 29, 2013)

After a brief battle with cancer, Mary Lou (Baker) McCown died Friday, March 29, 2013, in Poulsbo, Wash., where she lived for the last 17 years. She was 74.

Mary Lou was born Feb. 20, 1939, in Cameron, Mo., the middle of the 11 children of Wayne and Anna Mary Baker. She graduated from Powell High School in 1957 and returned to Powell after living in Soldotna, Alaska for more than 20 years.
