John Fred Harvard

John Fred Harvard, 69, of Cody died Monday, May 6, 2013 at the West Park Hospital in Cody.
Fred was born on Jan. 16, 1944 in Riverton to Frank and Aurilla (Worstenberg) Harvard. He grew up on the family ranch outside of Lander.
Josephine Terzino

Josephine Terzino, 95, of Cody died peacefully at the Spirit Mountain Hospice House on Wednesday, April 24, 2013.
Josephine was born in Nusco, Italy on March 7, 1918 to Maria Angelina and Michel Della Vecchia. When she was 18 years old she came to America to Latrobe, Pa., and was raised by her aunt Christine and her beloved uncle Ralph Passaro. With his loving heart he walked her down the aisle in her marriage to Carmen J. Terzino. To this marriage was born one daughter, Joanne.

Evelyn was born and raised in Powell to Oscar and Verna Singer. After high school, Evelyn attended Nursing School in Billings.

Frank Blevins, 86, of Powell, died at home surrounded by his loving family on the morning of May 5, 2013, after a long battle with Alzheimer’s.

Arlyne Highland, 85, died Saturday, May 4, 2013, at the Spirit Mountain Hospice House in Cody after a long battle with COPD.
Jerome ‘Jerry’ Wester
(June 3, 1928 - May 2, 2013)
Jerome “Jerry” Wester died Thursday, May 2, 2013. He was 84.
He was born June 3, 1928 in Glendive, Mont., to Swedish immigrant Eugene Wester and “German from Russia” immigrant Eva (Martin, Schloss) Wester. Jerry attended Glendive schools, graduating from high school in 1946. He married Beverly Glasscock Sept. 23, 1950 and together they had seven children.
Powell ice climber evacuated from South Fork
UPDATED 2:45 p.m.: Park County Search and Rescue members and a medical helicopter team have evacuated a Powell ice climber who broke both ankles in a fall on the South Fork.
Youth soccer teams continue spring action
Under 8
HMU-A, coached by Marcie Hobbs, finished the weekend of April 20 with a 0-1-1 record. The team drew its first game 5-5 in a high-scoring affair as Morgan Hobbs finished as the top scorer. The team lost to a counterpart Powell team by a 4-3 final. Morgan Hobbs connected for two of the team’s three goals while Elle Wilson added the last before heavy rain and wind prompted officials to whistle an early end to the contest.
Yellowstone gate opens this Friday
Winter is over (at least officially) for Yellowstone National Park’s East Entrance.
Beginning at 8 a.m. Friday, visitors will be able to travel through the park’s East Gate to many popular park destinations including Old Faithful, the Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone, Norris Geyser Basin, Mammoth Hot Springs and Fishing Bridge.
