Tennis splits with Cody

The Powell High School girls tennis team trumped Cody again on Tuesday, while Cody got a bit of revenge on the Powell boys.

Playing in Cody, the Lady Panthers won four of five matches — as they did on Sept. 4 — while the Panther boys went 2-3; the boys had beaten Cody 3-2 earlier in the year.

On the trail of history

Planning underway to complete historic pathway  

Plans are underway to update and revise the comprehensive plan for the Nez Perce National Historic Trail.

The path, also known as the Nee-Mo-Poo Trail, follows the 1877 flight of the non-treaty Nez Perce Native American tribe from their homelands in Oregon while being pursued by U.S. Army.

What a relief!

Sophomore Abraham helps Panthers survive ugly game 

BUFFALO — When TJ Abraham offered Buffalo High School a victory, and it refused, the Powell sophomore made sure to show the Bison what they were missing.

Abraham overcame two turnovers deep in PHS territory to score a pair of crucial touchdowns, and the Panthers survived sloppy play and sloppier conditions to claim a 19-9 win at Buffalo.

PHS Homecoming events this week

The Powell Panthers football team will play its first home game of the season Friday night, the culmination of Homecoming week at Powell High School.

It will be the first time the team plays at Panther Stadium following the death of coach Jim Stringer. The defending three-time class 3A champions are undefeated in 3A play this season. The Panthers take on Riverton at 7 p.m. Friday.
