Powell JV track competes at L.A. Kohnke Invitational

Kohnke Invitational in Powell. The meet featured a full junior varsity division in addition to the varsity action (detailed in last Tuesday's Tribune). Hollenbeck won the JV long jump title with a leap of 13'11”. Hollenbeck also placed second in high jump (4'5”) and pole vault (6') competitions. Lynn edged Hollenbeck for top honors in the high jump, clearing the bar at 4'7”, while Hildebrand paced the JV discus throwers with a mark of 73'2”.Teammate Kaitlyn Bonine was second in the discus with a mark of 63'11”.

Other top eight performances for Powell's JV girls included Lynn with a fifth-place finish in the triple jump (26'7.5”), Hildebrand with a fourth-place shot put mark (22'1”) and Korrie Kalberer's eighth-place long jump performance (12'5.5”). For the Panther boys, Jordan Gonnoud earned himself multiple event titles. Gonnoud topped the field in both the shot put (37'6.5”) and discus (106'3.5”) to finish first in both throwing events. Rico Garcia had the only other individual event championship for Powell's JV boys. Garcia clocked a time of 58.07 seconds in the 400 to win the event by nearly half a second ahead of the other 12 competitors. Powell also picked up four runner-up finishes on the day. Andrew Feller was second in the 3200 with a time of 12:59.07. Cameron Bennett came in second in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 19.37 seconds. Marshall McArthur was second in the 300-meter hurdles at 48.97 seconds, and Tyler Patterson was second in the long jump with a distance of 16'3”. Other top-eight performers for Powell were Cameron Bennett (third in the 100, eighth in the high jump), Justin Stuebner (fifth in the 200), Max Norberg (eighth in the triple jump), Kyle Anderson (seventh in the shot put and discus), Kyle Webber (eighth in the shot put), Garcia (sixth in the 200, eighth in the long jump), Patterson (third in the high jump, fourth in the tirple jump) and Feller (seventh in the triple jump). The Panthers' track team will be in action this Saturday in Lovell.
