She was born Dec. 16, 1909, in Russell, Iowa, to Charles and Bessie Kells.

She grew up and received her education in Russell. In 1940, she came to Powell
to visit her sister, Arlene Bovee, and she met Raymond Mathews. They were married
Nov. 22, 1940.
To this union were born two daughters, Mary and Carol. Mary died in 1960. The

Church and sang in the choir for over 40 years.
After the death of her husband, she remained on the farm until 1971 when she
sold the farm to the See family and moved to town to live in a home on Division
Street.
Edith loved to cook and enjoyed entertaining. The family remembers fondly:
If you stopped by her home, you had something to eat.
She also enjoyed embroidery and crochet. She was a born caretaker and delighted
in helping other people. She was fondly known as the “cheerleader” at
the nursing home because she was such an advocate of the care center and was
often seen sitting in the reception area greeting visitors. She always had
a smile and piece of candy for everyone. On Tuesday nights at Happy Hour, she
could be seen dancing to the lively music in her walker.

He was born near Luther, Okla., on Dec. 12, 1913, to Charles "Charlie" Loften
and Sarah Ellen "Ella" Clark Pollet. He was the baby of the family
of 8eightchildren, all of whom preceded him in death.
In 1924, when he was only 10, his mother passed away, leaving Charlie to continue
on alone with the big family. Some of the older children would look after Buck
and helped him attain some education. As the oilfields were flourishing in
Oklahoma during those years, it was natural that many of the family members
would seek employment in that field. Charlie, Buck and several of his brothers
and brothers-in-law worked in the "patch" from time to time. Always
a wanderer at heart, when the rigs moved north, some of the brothers and their
buddies came north also.
Buck came to Wyoming, settling in Lyman. He soon was introduced to a beautiful
redhead, who became the love of his life. Mary "Naomi" Wilson Felix,
became his wife on March 14, 1945 in Ely, Nev. She was a young widow and brought
two sons into the family that became very dear to Buck. Wilson J Felix (Helen
Rich) and Jerry D. Felix (Flo) were the beginning of the new family. Buck and
Naomi's first son was stillborn and called Pete. Next came Christy Ellen (John
Petrich), Jicki Val (Mike Brown), and Charles Burl "Chuck" Jr. (Gloria
Vice).
Working for many companies through the years, including Manning, Brinkerhoff,
Barnhart, Loffland Brothers, True Drilling & Gordon Engineering, they moved
throughout the Rocky Mountain area, following the "booms."
They both loved to travel, sing and dance when time allowed. Home base was
always in Mountain View in southwest Wyoming. In later years they settled there.
They operated a cafe for a time and Buck also worked for the town of Mountain
View for a while.
As they began to have some health concerns and wanted to be nearer some of
the family, they relocated to Powell about 14 years ago. Buck and Naomi were
members of the LDS Church and enjoyed traveling to many of the temples.
