Powell resident Beuford Lee Henrichs, 84, died Aug. 1 at
University Hospital in Salt Lake City.
He was born Oct. 22, 1917 in Diller, Neb. to George and Eva (Bousch) Henrichs.
He was a high school graduate. On March 7, 1959, he and Clista Keagle were
married. They made their home in the Powell area. He was a member of the BPOE,
Eagles Club, and Big Horn Basin Boat Club. His second love in life was fishing.
He is survived by his wife Clista of the family home; sons Neil A. Henrichs
and wife Connie of Menlo Park, Calif. and Donald Durand and wife Anna of Orlando,
Fla.; daughter Joan Nelson and husband Alan of Pendleton, Ore.; brother Carroll
Henrichs of Powell; a sister Bethel Tipton and husband John of Hollister, Calif.;
12 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his
parents and brothers Wayne and Loyal.
Funeral services are planned for 2 p.m. today (Tuesday) at the First United
Methodist Church in Powell, with the Rev. Ron Kapalka officiating. Pallbearers
will be Bob Johnstone, Melvin Scott, Mel Cozzens, Sam Alexander, Darrel Henrichs
and Fred Gilcrist. Burial will follow in Crown Hill Cemetery.
Should friends desire, memorials might be made to a charity of one's choice.

Oscar Edward Hillman ~ August 1, 2002
Oscar Edward Hillman, 87, died Thursday, Aug. 1, at his home
on Sylvan Court in Powell.
He was born Sept. 19, 1914, on a farm near WaKeeney, Kan., where he grew up
and attended Union School. He was the fourth of 10 children born to Louis and
Malinda (Claycamp) Hillman.
He married Erma Rogers in Ellsworth, Kan., on Jan. 1, 1936. It was during the
Depression and the terrible dust bowl days when they moved to Worland in 1936
where their two children, Gary and Karen, were born.
In 1945, they moved to Powell where he purchased the Case implement dealership
and owned and operated as Hillman Implement until retirement in 1966.
He enjoyed golfing, boat fishing, dancing and traveling. The couple spent several
winters in Apache Junction, Ariz.
He was a member of the United Methodist Church for more than 50 years, the
BPOE Elks, Absaroka Masonic Lodge #47 and a past president of the Powell Country
Club. He was also an original member of Allied Investments and TryCo Corporation.
Mr. Hillman served six years as a member of the Powell City Council.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Karen Benton, his parents, three
brothers and three sisters.
He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Erma; son Gary (Linda) Hillman of Sheridan;
two sisters, Laura Dixon of Ft. Collins, Colo., and Arlene Grecian of WaKeeney;
a brother, Darrel Hillman of Weatherford, Texas; seven grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren
and two great-great-grandchildren; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Cremation has taken place and memorial services was at United Methodist Church
Monday, Aug. 5 with Rev. Ron Kapalka presiding. Memorial may be made to the
Methodist Church or the charity of the donor's choice.
Flossie Ruth Longsdorf Caturia ~ August 2, 2002
Flossie Ruth Longsdorf Caturia, 89, died Aug. 2 at New Horizons
Care Center in Lovell.
Flossie was born May 13, 1913 in Arkansas, Pepin County, Wisc., the daughter
of John H. and Lucy E. Longsdorf. She was a member of the Reorganized Church
of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Flossie graduated from high school in
Durand, Wisc., in 1930 and excelled in secretarial procedures.
She was raised on the family farm and worked hard along with her parents and
siblings. Flossie had a great love for music and would walk five miles a week
to piano lessons. To pay for the lessons, Flossie would sell eggs to the local
market. She was well known for her musical ability in her community and was
pianist at her church. She loved nature and people and shared her love for
both throughout her lifetime.
On July 25, 1935, she married William Thomas Caturia. They ventured to Wyoming
where they settled and raised their family. Flossie was greatly devoted to
her family and friends and loved unconditionally. She was deeply loved by all
who knew her. Her hobbies were music, gardening and cooking.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Lucy Longsdorf; her brothers,
Florian, Lester and Johnny Longsdorf; her husband, William T. Caturia; and
her grandson, Robert Allen Caturia.
Flossie is survived by her sister, Lela Eggenburger; her husband, Earl of Maiden
Rock, Wisc.; her sisters, Peggy Swanson of Red Wing, Minn.; her son, Scott
Allen Caturia and wife Priscilla of Lovell; her daughter, Karen Lela Smith
and husband Stephen J. of Douglas; six grandchildren, Robin Griffin and husband
Randy, Joy Osban and husband Mark, Marcus Smith and wife Tycie, Heather Kidd
and husband Erick, Krista Howe and husband Ben, and Kade Caturia; 13 great-grandchildren,
Racheal, Jorden, Eric, Jade, Drake, Jennifer, Bryan, Jackie, Mike, Brittney,
Brianna, Elyssa and one more on the way; and one great-great-grandchild.
A memorial service was held Aug. 5 at Haskell Funeral Home in Lovell. In lieu
of flowers, memorials can be made to the American Cancer Society, American
Heart Association or New Horizons Health Care Center in Lovell.
Myra Lorraine Thomas ~ August 5, 2002
Graveside services will be conducted Saturday, Aug. 10 at
11 a.m. at Crown Hill Cemetery in Powell for former Powell resident Myra Lorraine
Thomas, who died Monday, Aug. 5 in Evanston. She was 63.
She was born June 13, 1939, in Bridger, Mont., the only child of Pete and Lillian
Muller.
She was raised in Powell where she met and married Frank Thomas. The couple
had two children and later divorced.
Family will remember her as a wonderful homemaker and one who loved tole painting,
knitting, gardening and horses.
Survivors include her son, Mike Thomas and wife Jeanette of Farmington, N.M.;
her daughter, Shanda Fife and husband Kent of Evanston; grandchildren Alex
Cheri Fife and Tracy Richards; and great-grandchildren Tieler Thomas, Jessie
Thomas and Cory Richards.
Marguerite Kepler ~ August 7, 2002
Marguerite Kepler, 94, a well-known and longtime resident
of Laramie, died Aug. 7 at the Laramie Care Center in Laramie.
She was born March 19, 1908, to Ernest Marion Beaver and Juliette Eliza (Hodgkin)
Beaver in Holt County, Neb.
In 1918, when Marguerite was 10 years old, the family moved to Deaver. Her
parents became prominent leaders in the development of Deaver.
Marguerite was one of three students in the first graduating class of Deaver
High School in 1925. She continued her education at the University of Wyoming,
graduating with a Bachelor of Science Degree in commercial education in 1929.
Marguerite and Dwight McFarland Kepler were married on June 11, 1931 in Laramie.
To this union was born a daughter, Kay Juliana Kepler.
Marguerite made her home in Laramie for 77 years. She was a faithful member
of the Methodist Church since 1932.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Dwight Kepler, and her
brother Chester Wendell Beaver.
Survivors include her daughter Kay Schroeder and husband Max of Boulder, Colo.;
grandsons Malcolm Kepler Forward and his wife Suzanne of Minneapolis, Minn.,
and Kent Masters Forward and his wife Lisa of Nashville, Tenn.; a brother,
Hiram Harold Beaver and his wife Lucille of Deaver; and a sister-in-law, Eleanore
Beaver of Cheyenne.
Memorial donations may be made to the Ivinson Memorial Home of Aged Ladies,
2017 Grand Ave., Laramie, 82070.
Sue Ellen Marks ~ August 7, 2002
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, Sept. 7 from
2 to 4 p.m. in the community room of the Monmouth Public Library in Monmouth,
Ore., for Sue Ellen Marks, a former Northwest Community College instructor
of teacher education, who died Aug. 7 in a Corvallis, Ore., hospital.
Cause of death was complications of diabetes.
She was born in Niles, Mich., to Robert C. and Raye Greatbach Marks.
She attended Niles Community Schools. Graduating with honors in a B.A. program
at the University of Michigan in 1960, she received an M.A. at Michigan State
in 1970 and a PhD. in Education from Indiana University in 1975.
She had taught teacher education for community colleges in New Mexico, Arizona,
and NWCC in Powell, as well as Elmira, N.Y., and the University of Oregon.
She was highly regarded as an innovator and a mover. Those who knew her in
Powell regarded her as a person who turned around the lives of many of her
students.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her only brother, Richard T. Marks.
Survivors include her devoted companion and special friend of 18 years, Rick
Sedgwick of Monmouth; and nieces and nephews, Deanna Marks, Robert J. Marks,
Adam T. Marks and Melissa Raye Marks.
Memorials in her name may be made to any public library or animal science,
which represent the two great loves of her life.
Chancey Deeann Ulmer ~ August 8, 2002
Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, Aug. 13 at 10
a.m. at the Park County Fairgrounds multipurpose building for Chancey Deeann
Ulmer, 30, who died early Thursday, Aug. 8 in a highway rollover south of Powell.
Burial will be in Crown Hill Cemetery, with a luncheon following at the fairgrounds.
She was born June 8, 1972, in Billings, Mont., and raised in Powell. A champion
diver for the Powell High School swim team, she was a member of the PHS Class
of 1990. She still holds PHS diving records, having lettered all four years
in diving. She placed sixth in the state as a freshman, second in the state
as a sophomore, was undefeated and won a state championship in diving as a
junior and missed being state champion diver again in her senior year by only
four points.
Her family is proud that she was a major help in furthering the diving program
at PHS, teaching others to dive. She was offered several diving scholarships
to attend college, but chose not to accept. She continued to dive for pleasure,
diving off anything with height, including cliffs.
She was also a member of the high school choir and loved singing.
She had a great love for animals and people, and her family said she always
had time for both: "Her heart and smile touched many people's lives, including
young children who were attracted to her gentle heart. Her love and concern
for others were expressed also in her passing, as she made it clear that she
wanted to be an organ donor, which she was."
Her hobbies included painting crafts; dried floral arrangements; rock, fossil
and arrowhead hunting and writing poetry.
She leaves behind her mother, Norma Jean Herd, and significant other Darryl
Carmon of Powell; her sister, Alexa Jean Herd of Powell; father and step-mother,
John and Myrna Ulmer and their son, Lee Nicholson, of Powell; grandmothers
Dee Shipman of Powell and Ann Ulmer of Cody; and numerous aunts, uncles and
cousins. She also leaves behind her companion of nine years, J.D. Peters,and
his family of Billings.
A memorial fund has been established at First National Bank & Trust in
Powell.
Ralph Smalley, Jr. ~ August 9, 2002
Memorial services will be conducted Wednesday, Aug. 14 at
2 p.m. at First United Methodist Church in Powell for Ralph Smalley Jr., 80,
who died Friday, Aug. 9 at the Powell Hospital.
The Rev. Ron Kapalka will officiate at services. Cremation has taken place,
and burial of cremains will be in Crown Hill Cemetery with IOOF graveside rites.
Mr. Smalley was born Jan. 7, 1922, in Powell to Ralph H. and Mae Smalley. After
farming for a time with his father and brother Wayland, he finished his schooling
in Billings, Mont.
He worked at Boeing Co. in Seattle as an aircraft mechanic and at Wright-Patterson
Air Force Base in Ohio before World War II. In 1942, he enlisted in the Navy,
serving as an aircraft mechanic at Pearl Harbor. Later he took part in the
Navy V-12 program in Butte, Mont., and Seattle and was discharged in 1946.
He then completed his college work at Montana State University in Bozeman,
becoming a mechanical engineer.
In 1948, he married Barbara I. McClelland from Xenia, Ohio, at the homestead
in Powell. They settled in Powell, and he joined Stanolind Oil and Gas Co.
at the Elk Basin field in production, later becoming equipment engineer for
Amoco Production Co. After various moves, including Cody, Casper and Worland
in Wyoming; Tyler and Ft. Worth in Texas; and Liberal, Kans., involving 34
years with Amoco, he retired and moved back to Powell in 1983.
He was a member of First United Methodist Church, a past grand of the Powell
Lodge #17 of IOOF, past president of the Polecat Ramblers Good Sam camping
club, a 34-year member of the Anadarko Basin Society of Petroleum Engineers
and a member of the local Amoco Retirees Club. He enjoyed gardening, hunting,
fishing and camping.
Survivors include his wife, Barbara I. Smalley of Powell; son Ralph R. Smalley
and wife Mary of Powell; daughter Linda Milhon and husband Cecil and daughter
Teressa Glenn, both of Liberal, Kans.; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother Wayland Smalley; sister-in-law
Barbara A. Smalley; son-in-law Robert Glenn and grandson Dustin Glenn.
Mitchel Ray Lamb ~ August 12, 2002
Funeral Mass will be celebrated Friday, Aug. 16 at 10 a.m.
at St. Barbara's Catholic Church in Powell for Mitchel Ray Lamb, 28, who died
Monday evening, Aug. 12 in Sumner, Wash.
Father Peter Johnson will officiate at services and burial in Crown Hill Cemetery.
A rosary will be said at 7 p.m. tonight (Thursday) at St. Barbara's after visitation
from 6 to 7 p.m.
He was born March 23, 1974, in Powell to Curtis and Delaine (Gilbert) Lamb.
He attended Powell schools and graduated from Powell High School in 1992. He
wrestled in high school and enjoyed golf and family activities.
He attended Northwest College for one year.
On Aug. 30, 1997, he married Anna Merritt in Powell. They lived in Spain, California
and Washington, where he was a plumber employed by ABC Water Heater.
Survivors include his wife Anna Lamb in Virginia; his parents, Curtis and DeLaine
Lamb of Powell; a sister, Monique Walls and husband Mike of Sumner, Wash.;
his grandparents, Harvey and Loretta Gilbert of Powell; uncles and aunts, Jeanette
and Rodger Smith and Bruce and Cynthia Lamb, all of Riverton; Diane Peterson,
Dwight and Dawn Gilbert, Dorene Gilbert and Deb Karst, all of Powell; and Douglas
Gilbert of Moorcroft.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Helen and Eldon Lamb; step-grandmother
June Lamb; and uncle Doyle Gilbert.
Pallbearers at the funeral will be Derek Gilbert, Justin Schrage, Scott Schrage,
Rusty Karst, Cody Karst and Dusty Gilbert.

Funeral services are scheduled Thursday, Aug. 15 at 11 a.m.
at the Manderson Community Bible Church for Denny Paul Spann, 53, of Lovell,
who died at North Big Horn Hospital in Lovell Monday, Aug. 12 after a short
battle with cancer.
The Rev. Jerry Fuller will officiate at services. Burial will follow at the
Mount View Cemetery in Basin.
Mr. Spann was born Nov. 23, 1948, in Basin, son of Sterling LeRoy and Ruth
Helen Spann. He graduated from Manderson-Hyattville High School and then attended
Casper College and the University of Wyoming.
He married Carol Smith on Aug. 8, 1979. They were later divorced, but remained
best friends.
He farmed a few years at Manderson and then owned and operated a lounge at
Lovell.
He enjoyed woodworking, refinishing antiques and was a "jack of all trades."
Survivors include his mother, Ruth Spann of Manderson; his best friend, Carol
Spann of Lovell; his two sons, Kelly Spann and wife Angie of Lovell and Kevin
Spann and wife Dana of Byron; his daughter, Teri Winland and husband Tim of
Lovell; one sister, Dee Ann Thorne and husband Robert of Worland; one brother,
Dale Spann and wife Karin of Sheridan; three grandsons, one granddaughter and
several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Thursday at the church in Manderson one-half hour prior
to services. A memorial fund has been established at Security State Bank, P.O.
Box 531, Basin, WY 82410, to go to the Northern Rockies Cancer Center in Cody.

Carol Ann Groen ~ August 13, 2002
Memorial services will be conducted Friday, Aug. 16 at 2
p.m. at Union Presbyterian Church in Powell for Carol Ann Groen, 65, who died
early Tuesday morning, Aug. 13 after a lengthy illness.
She was born in Red Lodge, Mont., on Christmas Day 1936, the daughter of Ingrid
and Ray Gebo.
She graduated from Red Lodge High School.
On June 26, 1955, she married William Richard (Dick) Groen, and they farmed
in Powell until his recent retirement.
Quarterhorses were her passion, and for many years she showed HiDee Hook and
other horses throughout the western states and Canada and won many championships
in various categories.
She was a long-time member of the Presbyterian bell ringers and also taught
Sunday School.
She enjoyed playing bridge and following her grandsons, Clay and Wade, in their
sporting activities.
Survivors include her husband Dick; daughters Cheryl Elliott and husband Matt
and Julie Thomas and husband Darren; and two grandsons, Clay and Wade Elliott,
all of Powell. Also surviving is her sister, Joyce Dawson and husband Joe of
Kennewick, Wash. and her brother, David Gebo and wife Emma of Pocatello, Idaho;
and her mother-in-law, Wilma Groen of Powell.
She was preceded in death by her parents; an infant son; and her son, Douglas,
who died when he was 14.

Travis Jean (T.J.) Onstine ~ August 17, 2002
Memorial services will be conducted Wednesday, Aug. 21 at
10 a.m. at Union Presbyterian Church in Powell for Travis Jean (T.J.) Onstine,
24, who died Saturday, Aug. 17 in a one-vehicle rollover southwest of Powell.
The Rev. David Hunter will officiate at services. Burial of cremains will follow
in Crown Hill Cemetery.
He was born June 24, 1978, in Powell, to Freddie N. and Ronda S. (King) Onstine.
He completed his early schooling in Gillette and then moved to Powell to enter
high school, beginning with his freshman year. He graduated from Powell High
School in 1996.
He then entered military service, graduating from Army basic training in the
fall of 1996. He was stationed at Fort Sill, Okla., a Specialist E-2 in the
1st Batallion, 40th Field Artillery, operating the Multiple Rocket Launching
System (MRLS). He served three years and returned to Powell in 1999.
He found satisfaction in his employment as a resident care giver at Big Horn
Enterprises group home in Powell.
As a youngster and young adult, he enjoyed baseball, basketball, track, 4-wheeling
and music. He was a car enthusiast and was fond of derby cars.
His family will never forget his love for family and friends, nor his wonderful
sense of humor.
Survivors include his parents, Freddie and Connie Onstine of Powell and Ronda
and Russ Naber of Gillette; his girlfriend, Sarah Chapman of Powell; his brother,
Willie Onstine of Powell; his sisters, Tammy Onstine and RayAnn Onstine, both
of Powell; his grandmothers, Norma Onstine of Powell and Sharon (and Charles)
Jennings of Buffalo; his grandfather, Duane (and Betty) King of Worland; his

Claralee C. Moberg ~ August 18, 2002
Memorial services were held Saturday, Aug. 24 in Kirkland,
Wash., for a former Powell resident, Claralee C. Moberg, 65, who died Sunday,
Aug. 18 in Kirkland, losing a longtime battle with heart disease.
She was born and raised in Newcastle and married David L. Moberg in Newcastle
Oct. 10, 1954. She was a medical records librarian.
Survivors include her husband, David L. Moberg; son Mitchell D. Moberg of Lynnwood,
Wash.; daughter Karen K. Moberg of Burien, Wash.; and two grandchildren.
Harold James Farmer ~ August 20, 2002
A star athlete at Powell High School and the University of
Wyoming, who later went on to become an athletic coach, Harold J. Farmer, 68,
Powell, died Tuesday evening, Aug. 20 of an apparent heart attack.
He would have been 69 years old today (Thursday, Aug. 22).
Born in Big Horn County on Aug. 22, 1933, he grew up in Powell and always called
Powell home. He was the son of Duard and Gretna (Smith) Farmer.
He was educated in the Powell schools and graduated from Powell High School
in 1951 where he starred in football and track. He led Powell to the state
championship football game in 1950 and attracted the attention of coaches at
the University of Wyoming. Sandwiched around military service with the U.S.
Army in Germany, he lettered in football as a fleet, 160-pound halfback for
the Cowboys from 1952-1957 under Bowden Wyatt, Phil Dickens and Bob Devaney.
He also was a sprinter for the Cowboy track team, specializing in the 440-yard
dash.
After graduating from UW, he returned to Powell to teach agriculture and coach
football, baseball and rodeo at Northwest Community College from 1960-1979.
He married Marge Bruyer in July of 1961, and they had three children: Renee,
Mark and Rochelle. They were later divorced.
On June 3, 1975, in Santa Maria, Calif., he married Frances Maggard. They have
made their home in Powell. Since his retirement from the college he has continued
to farm and ranch and pursue his love of horses.
He was a member of St. John's Episcopal Church. He was a devoted follower of
University of Wyoming athletics and greatly enjoyed reminiscing with former
teammates at UW reunions.
Survivors include his wife Frances of Powell; six children and nine grandchildren:
Renee Thomas and husband Steve and their daughter, Anna, of Presho, S.D.; Mark
Farmer of Pittsburg, Kans.; Rochelle Wright and husband Scott and their children,
Raelle and Shawn, of Cody; Jay Maggard and wife Christie and their children,
Kellen and Ali, of Seattle, Wash.; Cindy Fulton and husband Pidge and their
sons, Nick and Beau, of Powell; and Phil Maggard and wife Lisa and their sons,
Deacon and Dixon, of Cheyenne; his father, Duard Farmer of Powell; two sisters,
Jeraldine Underwood and husband Harold of Powell and Donna Kisor of Powell;
and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Gretna Farmer.

Audrey Christensen ~ August 22, 2002
Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Wednesday,
Aug. 28 at Miratsky-Easton Funeral Chapel for Audrey Margaret (Rimbey) Christensen,
90, who died Thursday, Aug. 22 at the Powell Nursing Home.
She was born Oct. 14, 1911, in Morrison, Okla., to Jess and Bertha Rimbey,
one of five children. She moved to Wyoming in 1918 and attended school in Powell.
She married Arthur Nels Christensen on Feb. 7, 1931, in Red Lodge, Mont. They
homesteaded on West Willwood, south of Powell, and had four sons.
She moved to the Powell Nursing Home in 1999.
She is survived by three sons, Donald L. Christensen of Powell, Edward L. Christensen
and wife Joan of Santa Paula, Calif., and Rodney D. Christensen of Casper;
a sister, Beula Conner of Powell; 11 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren,
four great-great grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Art; infant son Wesley L.
Christensen; brothers Clarence and Clyde Rimbey; and sister Cecil Adamson.
Pallbearers at the funeral will be Winston Churchill, LaVern Johnson, Duane
Edmonds, Glen Myers, Don Gillett and Neil Harrison. She will be deeply missed.
Jonathan Richard Miller ~ August 22, 2002
Memorial services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday,
Aug. 29 at First United Methodist Church in Powell for Jonathan Richard Miller,
20, of Denver, Colo., formerly of Powell, who died Thursday, Aug. 22 from injuries
sustained in an automobile accident.
He was born in Modesto, Calif., on Dec. 9, 1981, and lived his first 10 years
in Oakdale, Calif., prior to moving to Powell with his family. Jonathan spent
his formative years in Powell and graduated from Powell High School in 2000.
He attended Northwest College and the University of Wyoming at Laramie prior
to transferring last year to the Lamont School of Music at Denver University
on a music scholarship.
Jonathan loved baseball and played Little League, Babe Ruth and American Legion
baseball in Powell. He was a starting pitcher for the 2000 Wyoming American
Legion state championship team.
He also had a passion for music and played saxophone, bassoon, piano and keyboard.
He performed in numerous groups, beginning in middle school and high school
and continuing into college. These included Northwest College Jazz Band and
University of Wyoming Jazz Band and Orchestra, and he was the first chair bassoonist
in the Lamont School of Music Orchestra and Symphony.
He also had a great love of the outdoors, was an avid snowboarder and loved
camping, fishing and hunting. Jonathan had a zest for life and was truly a
free spirit. On a recent canoe trip last summer, Jonathan, his father, future
father-in-law and several close friends retraced 110 miles of the Lewis and
Clark Trail on the Upper Missouri River in northern Montana. Just a month ago,
he traveled to Port Townsend, Wash., on Puget Sound with his fiancee, Joanna,
and her parents, Dave and Bev Whittle of Powell, and spent several days sailing
on a 46-foot sailboat.
He was able to put his artistic talents to work doing custom woodworking while
employed this past year at Helix Construction in Denver.
He enjoyed people, friends and was very close to his family. He and fiancee,
Joanna, were also very fond of their miniature border collie, Bella.
Survivors include his parents, Rich and Jane Miller of Powell; his fiancee,
Joanna Whittle of Denver; his sister, Elizabeth, of Powell, currently attending
Minnesota State University at Mankato; his sister, Darcy, of Modesto, Calif.;
his brother, Eric, of Modesto; his paternal grandmother, Berniece Miller, of
Powell; his maternal grandmother, Joan Broadbent, of Red Lodge, Mont.; his
grandfather, LeRoy Solomon, in Nevada; his great grandmother, Goodie Nelms,
of Modesto; his aunts and uncles, Laura Keene of Powell, Craig Davis of Council,
Idaho, Don and Ronna Corsini of Woodstock, Ga., Ray and Oy Miller of Davis,
Calif., and Dana and Marla Solomon of Manteca, Calif.; and his cousins, Matthew
Solomon of Nacogdoches, Texas, Heather Solomon of Manteca, Calif., Kevin Corsini
of Woodstock, Ga., Ken Corsini of Roswell, Ga., and Katie Reid of Carrollton,
Ga.
Memorials may be made to the Jonathan Miller Memorial Music Scholarship at
Northwest College in Powell.
The Rev. Ron Kapalka will officiate at memorial services at the Methodist Church,
137 West 2nd St., Powell. Miratsky-Easton Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Leta Bentley, 82, a former Powell resident, died Tuesday,
Aug. 27 at Licking Memorial Hospital in Newark, Ohio.
Funeral servcies and burial will take place in Powell at a later date. She
had been a resident of Newark for 12 years.
She was born Oct. 1, 1919, in Kearney, Neb., to the late Perry J. and Rose
E. (Hevlin) Wollam. She lived most of her life in Powell, where she was employed
as a secretary in the Powell school system.
In 1984, she retired from the Carnation Company in Los Angeles, Calif., after
20 years.
While in Newark, she was active at Zerger Hall Senior Center.
She is survived by three daughters and sons-in-law, Susan K. Stevens and husband
Richard of Granville, Ohio, Debbie J. Terry and husband Morris of Powell and
Carolyn L. Fletcher and husband Thomas of Rexburg, Idaho; a son, Greg A. Bentley
of Powell; a brother, Jay Wollam and wife Esther of Phoenix, Ariz.; a sister-in-law,
Flossie Wollam of Powell; 12 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Douglas Silas Bentley
in 1952; a brother, Ray Wollam; sisters Lila Wollam Nunnelly and Neva Wollam
Litton; and daughter-in-law Von McNeill Bentley.

Alisha Diane Hatch Hawley, August 30, 2002
Funeral services were held Tuesday, Sept. 3 at Rose Park
Stake Center in Salt Lake City, Utah, for Alisha Diane Hawley, 25, who died
Friday, Aug. 30 in Salt Lake City.
She was born Nov, 6, 1976, in Salt Lake City. She always shared love with family
and friends. She loved spoiling nieces and nephews.
She graduated from West High School and attended Salt Lake Community College.
She worked for the Work Activity Center and loved her special needs clients.
She married Richard Hawley in the Jordan River LDS Temple Nov. 25, 2000. They
moved to Washington, D.C., and later returned home due to her health.
Survivors include her husband, Richard Lynn Hawley of Lovell; her parents,
Dellis and Delores Hatch of Salt Lake; sister Monika Menke and husband Marc
of Las Vegas, Nev., Emily Henriksen and husband Tom of Tooele, Utah; brothers
Eldon Hatch and wife Danielle of Salt Lake, Brendon Hatch and wife Dianna of
Stansbury, Utah; grandmother, Arlene Hatch, of Odgen, Utah; and nine nieces
and nephews. Her husband, Richard, is the son of Ralph Robert and Juanita Mayes
Hawley of Lovell and the grandson of Louise Jolley Hawley of Powell.
Burial was in Lindquist's Memorial Gardens of the Wasatch.
Venita Rae Uchtman ~ August 31, 2002
Former Powell resident Venita Rae (Carleton) Uchtman, 56,
died early Saturday, Aug. 31 at her home in Billings, Mont., after a struggle
with pancreatic cancer.
She was employed as a cook at the Time Out Lounge in Powell for several years.
A celebration of her life will take place Saturday, Sept. 7 with an informal
gathering of family and friends at the Gold Dust Casino in Billings, Mont.,
from 2 to 5 p.m.
